    Beem survived his nerves and the oppressive heat May 30 to collect the $450,000 winner's check. (Reuters)

    With a head full of nerves and little in his stomach other than Pepto-Bismol, tour rookie Rich Beem built up a four-shot cushion on the front nine May 30 then held on to win the Kemper Open for his first PGA Tour victory.
