    Payne Stewart rallied from one stroke back with three holes to play Sunday to capture his second U.S. Open title with a one-shot victory over Phil Mickelson. Tiger Woods finished in a third-place tie with Vijay Singh.

    Janzen Passes Stewart for 2nd Open Victory
    1998 U.S. Open Logo Lee Janzen needed only to shoot even par at the Olympic Club to win his second U.S. Open championship. Janzen made up seven shots on Sunday to rally to beat Payne Stewart by a stroke.
