18th Hole Header Graphic

Description: More than 50,000 people can gather around this hole and have a clear view of play. The 18th is an excellent finishing hole that will provide the Kemper Open with exciting finales for years to come. Bunkers line the fairway on both sides, ready to catch errant tee shots. The green is large, but bunkers stand in the way.

How Pros Play the Hole: Players will try to avoid two fairway bunkers with their tee shots. An ideal drive will find the right side of the fairway, which will leave the pro with a middle iron to a very large green. Sneed calls this a fine finishing hole, since it requires a good drive and a good second shot.

Most Troublesome Hazards: Bunkers on both sides of the fairway.

Toughest Pin Placement: Left side of the green, close to the bunkers

Fred Funk's Take: "It depends on the wind. It can play extremely long, if it's into the wind, and can play pretty short and docile downwind or with no wind. But again, it's one you've just got to hit a really good tee shot to set up a shot into the green. You're shooting downhill into the green with not much margin for error down there. It's real narrow. You don't have any green to the left. Any pin over on the left side is difficult to get [the ball] close."
