TPC at Avenel Hole-by-Hole Guide
How Pros Play the Hole: Most players will hit 6-irons to 9-irons, depending on wind conditions and tee and pin placements. Finesse is definitely the key on this hole. Most Troublesome Hazards: Rock Run creek hugs the green around the north and west sides. Toughest Pin Placement: In the extreme back left of the green. Fred Funk's Take: "You've got a very tough green, a horseshoe green. Again, you've got that creek there. I think the more difficult shot is probably from the right tee. It's such a narrow shot. The creek really comes into play quicker from the left side when you're hitting from the right tee. You try to bail out away from there and you end up in that bunker, and you're dead there. There's no bail out. You're hitting anywhere from 6-iron to 8-iron. If the wind is really blowing, maybe a 5-iron."
