Logan Besougloff
Langley / Jr.
Won the Va. AAA Northern Region pole vault title, clearing 14-6. He was also runner-up at the state meet with 14-6.
Ahmed Bile
Annandale / Sr.
Va. AAA state and Northern Region champ ranked second in country in 1,000 (2:26.36). Ran 4:15.32 in 1,600.
Dondre Echols
Potomac (Md.) / Sr.
Ran fastest 55 hurdles time in country (7.17), was runner-up in 60 hurdles at nationals in 7.71. Won 3A title in 55 hurdles in 7.20.
Nadim Elhage
Churchill / Sr.
Won Montgomery County shot put title before throwing a personal-best 53-9 at region meet. Won the state title with 52-1.
Taivon Jacobs
Suitland / Jr.
Ran third-fastest 300 time in country at Va. Tech (33.94). Won the PG title in 34.28, was second at state meet (34.71).
Rashaan Jones
South Lakes / Jr.
Won high jump with 7-0 at Liberty Flames Invite, one of two in country to clear that height. Placed second at Va. AAA meet with 6-9.
Nathan Kiley
Westfield / Jr.
Has outstanding range: Ran personal bests in the 300 (36.25), 500 (1:05.97 ) and 4x800-meter relay (split 1:55).
Sean McGorty
Chantilly / Jr.
Won the Va. AAA Concorde District 1,600 meters title in 4:15.29. Finished the mile at nationals in 4:13.81.
Michael McNamee
Oakton / Sr.
Won 1,000 at Concorde District championships in 2:29.05, second in the 1,600 (4:15.78). Ran 4:20.88 for a full mile.
Mustaqeem Williams
Forest Park / So.
Area’s fastest short sprinter captured Va. AAA Northwest Region 55 title before winning the state crown in 6.37 seconds.
Christian White
Laurel / Sr.
Was runner-up in the 500 at Va. Tech Invitational (1:04.59) and at Md. 4A meet (1:04.98). Ran 48.47 in the 400 at nationals.
Kelly Deegan
Coach of the year, Westfield
The longtime assistant took over as coach in 2010 and assembled a collection of Westfield alums with championship experience as her assistants. The result? Under Deegan’s guidance, a team of 21 dedicated boys won their first Virginia AAA Concorde District title since 2008 and first Northern Region crown since ’07. The Bulldogs also placed third at the state meet.
