Isaiah Simmons

Woodbridge / Senior

Became one of the top five throwers in the country and one of the greatest from the Washington area. At the Virginia AAA Northwest Region meet, he became the all-time state record holder in the discus with 196 feet 8 inches and also threw a meet record 65-6.5 in the shot. Simmons also set meet records in the discus (194-7) and shot (66-0.5) at the AAA meet. Undefeated against area competition, he finished fourth at the Penn Relays in the shot put (63-2.75), his lowest finish of the season. Will compete for Miami (Fla.).

Robby Creese

Glenelg / Sr.

Ran 4:12.95 in the 1,600 at Glenn Loucks Games and 1:54.00 in 800 at Viking Invitational. Ran 4:15.06 in the mile at Penn Relays.

Ronald Darby

Potomac (Md.) / Jr.

Won Maryland 3A titles in the 100 (10.77), 200 (21.37), 4x100 and 4x200 (1:27.94). Won 100 at Crimson Tide Classic in 10.72.

Russell Hornsby

Geo. Prep / Sr.

Ran 1:50.82 in the open 800 and split 1:50.61 at the Penn Relays. Won 400 at Viking Invitational in 48.84.

Edose Ibadin

DuVal / Sr.

Maryland 4A 800 champ (1:52.53) and second in 400 (48.62). Won 800 at 4A South (1: 53.25) and second in 400 (48.28).

JP Jenkins

Annandale / Sr.

Northern Region champ in the 110 hurdles (13.93), 300 hurdles (37.83) and 4x400. Won Patriot District 110s in 13.87.

Anthony Johnson

Mountain View / Sr.

Won high jump at Southern Track Classic with 6-8. Commonwealth District champ also went 6-8 at Wolverine Invite.

Collin Leibold

Gonzaga / Sr.

Runner-up in the two-mile at the Southern Track Classic in 9:12.16. WCAC champ went 9:22.26 in 3,200, 4:17.51 in 1,600.

Won Maryland 4A state titles in the 200 (21.97) and 400 (47.82). Earned the same double at 4A South in 22.03 and 47.83.

Sean Price

South Lakes / Sr.

Won long (21-10.25) and triple (46-9) jumps and 100 (10.84) and 200 (22.04) at Northern Region. Also second in high jump (6-4).

Lewis Shirima

Thomas Johnson / Sr.

Won pole vault at the Maryland state and Frederick County meets with 14-0. Won the 4A North Region meet with 13-1.

Byron Sintim

Battlefield / Sr.

Won long jump at Battlefield Relays with 23-3.5 and Cedar Run District title with 23-2. Went 22-10.5 at Gojekian Twilight Classic.

Anthony Williams

Potomac (Va.) / Sr.

Won Cardinal District 110 hurdles in 13.87. Ran 37.83 in 300 hurdles at Brian Watkins, 37.54 at Southern Track Classic.

Michael Williams

DeMatha / Sr.

Set personal bests in 110 hurdles (14.25) and 300h (37.33). Won the 400 (48.12) and 400h (54.28) at McNamara Invite.

Coach of the year Nick Snyder

Thomas Johnson

Snyder began coaching at the Frederick school in 2002 as part of the girls' staff, but took over as boys' head coach in 2007. He didn't waste time pointing the Patriots in a winning direction. Snyder guided Thomas Johnson to its third straight Maryland 4A outdoor championship. He also led his team of about 50 boys to its third straight county and region titles.
