P Kaitlyn Schmeiser
Northern / Senior
The Maryland recruit showed no difficulty making the adjustment to pitching from 43 feet from home plate, as opposed to 40 feet in previous years. Became the first pitcher in Maryland history to win four state championship games as she led the Patriots to a 22-0 mark and the 3A title. Did not allow an earned run in 111 innings, while striking out 241 and allowing 16 hits. Threw eight no-hitters, four of which were perfect games. Batted .541 with three homers and 47 RBI.
P Jamie Bell
McLean / Sr.
After leading team to 2010 Virginia AAA title, Bell went 19-0 with a 1.25 ERA through 25 games this season. Will play for Elon.
P Megan Hyson
Chesapeake / Sr.
Repeat All-Met went 22-1 with 276 strikeouts and five no-hitters. Hit .533, slugged .840 and scored 34 runs. Will play for Georgetown.
P Miranda Kemp
Battlefield / Sr.
Through 22 games went 14-1 with a 0.58 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 97 innings. Threw two perfect games. Will play for Iowa State.
P Emily Weiman
Spalding / Sr.
Three-time All-Met struck out 170 in 105 innings and did not allow an earned run for the IAAM A champions. Will play for N.C. State.
C Adrienne Gebele
Broadneck / Sr.
Repeat All-Met and Ohio recruit batted .440, slugged.680, drew 18 walks and scored 24 runs. Called every pitch and went errorless.
C Sophie Giaquinto
O’Connell / Sr.
Batted .495 with 7 homers and a school-record 51 RBI for the WCAC champions. Will play for Cornell.
1B Macy Jones
Briar Woods / Jr.
Through 24 games hit .574 with 25 RBI and 43 runs scored. Repeat All-Met had 0.39 ERA and 291 K’s in 1441/3 innings in the circle.
2B Shae Braxton
Hylton / Jr.
Hit .567 with 10 home runs, 33 RBI and 33 runs scored. Had .704 OBP and struck out only three times in 81 plate appearances.
SS Lindsey Schmeiser
Northern / Jr.
Repeat All-Met and Maryland recruit batted .507 for the four-time Maryland 3A champions with 4 homers, 33 RBI.
3B Bailey Liddle
Battlefield / Sr.
Through 22 games, repeat All-Met hit .508 with 16 extra-base hits. Also went 7-0 with 0.17 ERA in the circle. Will play for Virginia Tech.
OF Sydney Broderick
Stone Bridge / So.
In one of the area’s best leagues, hit .572 with 25 RBI and 36 runs scored. Did not make an error all season.
OF Julia Kastner
South County / Sr.
Through 24 games, hit .524 with 6 home runs, 24 RBI and 34 runs scored. Struck out twice all season. Will play for Temple.
OF Tayler Schaefer
Northern / Sr.
Skilled center fielder paced the Maryland 3A champs in batting (.576), and added 29 RBI and 22 runs. Will play for Shepherd.
UT Jillian Ferraro
O’Connell / So.
Top recruit and repeat All-Met hit .463, slugged .841, drew 19 walks, hit a school-record 8 homers, had 39 RBI and scored 37 runs.
Coach of the year Maurice Tawil
McLean
Tawil led the Highlanders back to Virginia AAA tournament, a year after they won their first state title, the first for a Northern Region team since 1995. Playing in one of the area's toughest leagues, McLean went 14-0 in the AAA Liberty District this season and won the district tournament. Through 25 games this season, Tawil had a career record of 97-30, including a 47-8 record the past two years.
