The speedster enjoyed one of the finest seasons ever by an area player, setting a Maryland single-season record with 49 touchdowns. Led the region in rushing with 2,701 yards, including a stretch in which he rushed for more than 200 yards in five consecutive games. Rushed for 312 yards and seven touchdowns in a Maryland 4A semifinal victory over Catonsville and then had the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime of the championship game as the Patriots beat Quince Orchard, 36-35, to win their second state title in three seasons. QB Connor Jessop
Broad Run / 6-5, 200 / Sr.
Three-year starter passed for nearly 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Finished career with 49 touchdown passes and just five interceptions. Video
RB Mark Green
Quince Orchard / 5-9, 175 / Sr.
Workhorse averaged 24 carries and made countless key plays for Md. 4A finalists. Rushed for 2,057 yards, 28 TDs.
RB Albert Reid
Friendship Collegiate / 5-10, 190 / Sr.
Deceptively shifty, quick runner powered Knights to a school-record nine wins. Rushed for 1,705 yards and 17 touchdowns.
WR Billy Brown
Gaithersburg / 6-4, 205 / Sr.
Big target caught 40 passes for 935 yards, 13 TDs. At defensive end, had 20 sacks and 75 tackles.
WR Alex Carter
Briar Woods / 6-0, 195 / Sr.
Over 1,000 yards total offense with 11 TDs; also intercepted four passes as Falcons won Va. AA Div. 4 title. Will play for Stanford. Video
WR Taivon Jacobs
Suitland / 5-10, 160 / Jr.
Caught 35 passes for 921 yards and 13 TDs. On defense, had 72 tackles and six interceptions. Had nine returns for TDs. Video
OL Eddie Goldman
Friendship Collegiate / 6-4, 315 / Sr.
Imposing force graded out at better than 90 percent each week. On defense had 23 tackles for loss with 15 sacks. Video
OL Michael Madaras
Good Counsel / 6-6, 280 / Sr.
Outstanding blocker was leader up front as Falcons rushed for 236 yards per game and averaged 37 points. Will play for Maryland. Video
OL Jackson Matteo
Broad Run / 6-5, 275 / Sr.
Anchor of unit that protected a 2,000-yard passer and paved the way for a 1,000-yard rusher. Committed to Temple.
OL Ryan Watson
Good Counsel / 6-3, 280 / Sr.
Two-way standout was a three-year starter, helping the Falcons take an 18-game winning streak into next season.
OL Donta Wilkins
Potomac (Va.) / 6-3, 295 / Jr.
Earned coaches' grade of better than 85 percent each week. Had 27 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles on defense.
K Hunter Windmuller
Flint Hill / 6-4, 175 / Sr.
Made four field goals (long of 43 yards) and all 30 point-after tries. Averaged 47.1 yards per punt. Will play for Virginia Tech.
Coach Dave Mencarini
Cougars went undefeated in the regular season for the third time in five seasons, advancing to the Maryland 4A championship game before losing in overtime. Guided the Darnestown school to the playoffs in each of his eight seasons, including seven consecutive regional final appearances. Former Rockville High wide receiver has a career record of 85-14 with one state title (2007).
