Katie Ledecky

Stone Ridge / So.

Six months after winning Olympic gold, Ledecky led the Gators to an Independent School League title and a fourth-place finish at Metros, where she broke two-time Olympian Kate Ziegler's (O'Connell) national high school record in the 500-yard freestyle by two seconds and just missed setting the American record. Her time of 4 minutes 31.38 seconds is 1.33 seconds faster than the NCAA record. Ledecky also shaved 0.19 of a second off fellow 2012 Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin's national independent high school record in the 200 free for a new mark of 1:42.96.
