SS Kent Blackstone

Marshall / Sr.

Slick fielder is program’s first All-Met in 20 years. Hit .379 with four home runs. Will play for New Mexico State.

P Michael Church

Lake Braddock / Sr.

The Patriot District pitcher of the year went 10-0 with a 1.56 ERA to improve his career record to 23-4. Will play for James Madison.

P Kevin Doherty

Good Counsel / Sr.

Virginia recruit was 5-1 with 1.60 ERA and four shutouts while batting .378 with team-leading 11 extra-base hits and 22 RBI.

C Red Dowdell

Yorktown / Sr.

All-Northern Region backstop batted .458 with 13 doubles, five home runs and 29 RBI and drew 23 walks. Will play for VMI.

1B Kyle Fairbanks

South County / Sr.

One of the most feared sluggers in the area, he batted .556 with 12 doubles, six homers and 35 RBI and scored 25 runs.

OF Michael Flack

Whitman / Sr.

Batted .360 and scored 23 runs as 17-3 Vikings enjoyed the best season in school history. On the mound, he was 7-1 with two saves and a 0.43 ERA.

OF Jonny Graham

Madison / Sr.

The Warhawks’ four-year starter and team leader hit .397 with 14 extra-base hits and committed only one error. Will play for Air Force.

OF Alex Gransback

Lake Braddock / Jr.

Batted .475 and hit safely in every regular season game for the state tournament qualifiers. Had four home runs and 31 RBI.

P Josh Hader

Old Mill / Sr.

O’s 19th-round pick was 10-0 for Anne Arundel champs. Had 0.39 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings. Batted .409 with four HRs.

P Sean Kennedy

North Stafford / Sr.

Commonwealth District player of the year struck out 100 and walked 12 in 61 innings, with a 0.68 ERA. Will play for Virginia Tech.

2B Jeffrey Morgan

Patuxent / Sr.

Smooth fielder batted team-leading .433 with five triples and 21 RBI for Maryland 2A finalists. Will play for Allegany College.

P Danny O’Donnell

St. John’s / Sr.

WCAC player of the year was 6-2 with a 0.32 ERA as Cadets finished first in the league regular season. Will play for George Washington.

P Jackson Rogers

Potomac Falls / Sr.

Dulles District player of the year went 8-1 with 94 strikeouts and 13 walks in 67 innings. Also hit 10 doubles. Will play for Hampden-Sydney.

3B Andre Scrubb

Hylton / Jr.

Northwest Region player of the year hit seven homers with 28 RBI and posted a 1.26 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 56 innings in leading Bulldogs to their first state semis.

Coach of the year: Jody Rutherford

Lake Braddock

In 11 seasons with the Bruins, his teams have compiled a 208-61 record and won two Northern Region championships and four Patriot District titles, including the district crown this season. Only two of the region's 30 teams qualify for the state tournament, and Lake Braddock has achieved that five times in the past seven years.
