P Jess Cummings

Northern / So.

Went 20-0 with a 0.38 ERA for Maryland 3A champs. Struck out 260 in 128 innings and allowed just 39 hits and 29 walks.

P Allison Davis

Oakton / So.

Through 22 games, right-hander went 15-4 with a 0.32 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 134 innings. At the plate, hit .435 and slugged .652.

P Tori Finucane

O’Connell / Jr.

Area’s toughest pitcher and Missouri recruit went 27-1 with 0.09 ERA. Struck out 332, with 41 hits and 22 walks in 161 innings.

P Macy Jones

Briar Woods / Sr.

Through 25 games, Penn State signee went 18-3 with a 0.97 ERA and 258 strikeouts in 145 innings. Hit .542 with seven home runs and 16 RBI despite 50 walks. VIDEO

C Jillian Ferraro

O’Connell / Jr.

North Carolina recruit and one of the nation’s top juniors hit .542 with eight home runs and 55 RBI for WCAC and VISAA champs. Never struck out.

C Erica Field

Osbourn Park / Sr.

Through 21 games, James Madison recruit hit .616 with nine home runs, 18 doubles, seven triples, 37 runs scored and 54 RBI. Also pitched.

1B Alexis Sargent

St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes / Jr.

Penn recruit hit .625 with seven HRs and 44 RBI. A top pitcher, went 20-4-1 with 0.77 ERA and 335 strikeouts in 154 1/3 innings.

2B Nicole Prince

Stone Bridge / Jr.

Through 25 games, Northern Region player of the year and JMU recruit hit .649 with five home runs, 18 doubles, 30 RBI and 47 runs.

SS Shae Braxton

Hylton / Sr.

Repeat All-Met hit .652 with seven homers and 32 RBI. Had .739 OBP, scored 30 runs and stole 27 bases. Will play for Marshall.

3B Kimberly Federowicz

Chesapeake / Sr.

Hit .494 with 26 RBI and 34 runs scored for Anne Arundel champ and state runner-up. Had 17 extra-base hits.

OF Sydney Broderick

Stone Bridge / Jr.

Through 25 games, repeat All-Met and BYU recruit hit .571 with seven home runs and 53 RBI. Had 21 extra-base hits. VIDEO

OF Ashley Cole

Woodgrove / Jr.

Hit .512 with 38 RBI, 36 runs scored and 13 extra-base hits through 26 games. Set state record with 43 stolen bases with games left to play.

OF Chloe Fitzgerald

Huntingtown / Sr.

Hofstra signee hit .543 with 25 runs scored. Had blazing speed in the outfield, and stole 84 bags in 85 career attempts.

UT Hailey Smith

Stonewall Jackson / Sr.

Hit .563 with seven home runs and 30 RBI, while stealing 24 bases and scoring 28 runs. Will play for LSU.

Coach of the year: Pat Flanagan

Sherwood

In her 16th year at the Sandy Spring school and 36th year coaching overall, Flanagan led the Warriors to a 21-0 season and the Maryland 4A championship, the first state title for a Montgomery County school in the state's largest classification since Gaithersburg won in 1999. With only four seniors and seven sophomores and two freshmen, Sherwood outscored its opponents, 205-23. With Flanagan at the helm, Sherwood has won seven consecutive division titles and five region titles in the past six years.
