Charismatic Stakes His Claim

Charismatic, who ran in a claims race in February, shocked the horse racing world May 1 as the 31-1 shot won the 125th Kentucky Derby. The win gave trainer Wayne Lukas his fourth Derby victory.

Derby Field Should Be Smaller
With the abundance of horses that ran in the Kentucky Derby, officials at Churchill Downs should learn from Saturday's fiasco of a horse race and limit future Derby fields to 16 or fewer, writes The Post's Andrew Beyer.

A Real Quiet Finish at '98 Derby
Real Quiet won the 124th Kentucky Derby, holding off a late charge by Victory Gallop. The victory was the second in a row for trainer Bob Baffert (pictured), whose other horse, pre-race favorite Indian Charlie, finished third. Baffert became only the sixth trainer to win back-to-back Derbies.
