Junior
Among his 10 first-place finishes were Foot Locker South Region
championship in Charlotte, Virginia AAA state and Northern Region
titles. Won William and Mary, Georgetown Prep and Bull Run invitationals. Set seven course records.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Vic Kelbaugh
West Springfield
Veteran coach of 23 years led Spartans to third straight Virginia
AAA champonship and fourth in seven years. Team was unbeaten in metropolitan area and won Championship of America meet in Birmingham. Two of his runners -- Sharif Karie and Chris Banks -- qualified for final field of 32 for Foot Locker national championship race in San
Diego.
