Player of the Year
Erin Maldo, Thomas Johnson
The 5-foot-11 outside hitter is a two-time All-Met and Frederick County player of the year. Led the Patriots to the Maryland 4A semifinals in 2000 and 2003. Totaled 390 kills this season as well as 105 digs, 64 blocks and 28 aces. Will play for the University of Cincinnati.



Coach of the Year
Dan Jones, Forest Park
Since Forest Park opened in 2000, Jones has led the Bruins to four Virginia AAA Cardinal District crowns, two Northwestern Region titles and this year's state championship. Forest Park has made three consecutive state tournament appearances and has finished 25-1 each of the past two seasons.



First Team
OH Marisa Gross, Forest Park, Sr.
Two-time All-Met and Northwestern Region player of the year totaled a state-record 1,024 career kills in leading the Bruins to their first Virginia AAA championship. Had 327 kills this season.

OH Dawn Herring, Calvert, Sr.
Recorded 160 kills, 128 digs and a team-high 60 aces in leading the undefeated Cavaliers to the Maryland 3A championship-their second in school history-and The Post's No. 1 ranking.

OH Rebecca LaBrake, Centreville, Sr.
All-Northern Region selection led Centreville to four consecutive state tournament appearances. Had 340 kills-including 131 in seven playoff matches-and 272 digs this season.

OH Heather Schreiber, Northern, Sr.
Southern Maryland Athletic Conference player of the year led Northern to two state championships in her four years. Totaled more than 1,000 career kills.

MH Katie Oakes, Evangel Christian, Sr.
Racked up 394 kills, 91 blocks and 62 aces this season in leading team to the Mid-East Region of Christian Schools championship. Accumulated 1,142 kills and 304 blocks in her career. Will play for Virginia.

MH Brittany Westphal, Herndon, Sr.
Concorde District and Northern Region player of the year compiled 405 kills and 53 aces in leading team to AAA Northern Region final. Will play for Elon.

S Tara Stradling, Glenelg, Sr.
Two-time All-Met appeared in three Maryland 2A finals, winning the state championship in 2002. Recorded 465 assists, a team-high 38 aces and 92 digs this season. Will play for American.
