Runner of the Year

Melissa Dewey, Hayfield, Sr.
A three-time All-Met, Dewey won the Virginia AAA championship by more than a minute (18:10) and earned all-American honors by taking 13th place (18:23) at the Foot Locker national championships in San Diego. She also won the Monroe Parker, Lake Fairfax, William & Mary, Glory Days Grill, Patriot District and Northern Region championships. She finished an area-best fourth at the Foot Locker Southeast Region. Her district-winning time of 16:42 at Burke Lake Park was the course's third-best in 30 years.

Coach of the Year

Desmond Dunham, Eleanor Roosevelt
Dunham came to the Greenbelt school before last season and quickly built a dominant program and a state champion. After finishing second in Maryland 4A in 2003, the Raiders won the state title and were the only 4A team with two top-10 finishers at this year's meet. The Raiders became the first Prince George's County school to win a state championship since Roosevelt won in 1988. For the second straight year, the Raiders won the 4A South Region title with a perfect score of 15 points.

First Team

The Virginia AAA Concorde District and Northern Region runner-up was a key part of a team that was ranked nationally for much of the season. She took 10th in states.
