Player of the Year

OH Kailee May | Damascus | Sr.
After winning a state title in Utah as a junior, May moved to the area and instantly transformed a team that won one postseason match last year into a Maryland 4A state fi nalist this year. She registered 403 kills, 375 digs and 73 aces for the Swarmin' Hornets (21-4) and will play for Fordham.



Coach of the Year

Jenica Matthias | Loudoun County
The Raiders won one match in 2001, the year before Matthias took over the program. She coached Loudoun County to respectability shortly thereafter, and this year molded a balanced team with no superstars into a cohesive unit that made the Virginia AA championship match.



First Team

OH Tehya Mockapetris | Centennial | Sr.
With 227 kills, she had over 50 more than her next closest teammate on the Maryland 3A champions. She also led the team in aces (67) and had 160 digs.

OH Jessica Emanuele | Good Counsel | Sr.
The repeat All-Met led the Falcons (26-1) to a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title with 471 kills and 103 aces and set the school record with 39 kills in their only defeat.

OH Andrea Miller | Huntingtown | Sr.
The all-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference selection had 257 kills and led the Hurricanes (18-1) back to the Maryland 3A title game for a second straight season. Will play for West Virginia.

MH Rachel Young | Heritage | Sr.
Her résumé includes three all-Dulles District honors, two all-Region II honors and this year's Region II player of the year award, thanks to 284 kills and 220 digs for the AA state quarterfinalists. Will play for UNC Pembroke.

MH Bianca Richardson | Colonial Forge | Jr.
The Northwestern Region player of the year had 279 kills and 52 blocks as she co-captained the Eagles (21-6) to the Virginia AAA semifinals.

S Rachel Profit | Maret | Sr.
The four-time all-Independent School League selection averaged 12 assists per game and powered the Frogs (20-2) past previously undefeated Good Counsel in the Metro championship game. Will play at Maryland as a walk-on.

L Jenn Hilchey | Centennial | Sr.
Other coaches said they made an effort to keep the ball away from her, but she still managed 264 digs and only 26 errors out of 617 passing attempts for the 3A state champions. Will play softball for UMBC.

S Megan Shifflett | Langley | Jr.
The do-everything Northern Region player of the year fi nished with 687 assists, 201 digs, 100 aces and 65 blocks as the Saxons ran through a perfect regular season.
