Girls' Cross Country

We ask all first-team selections five questions about their sport and their athletic careers, and explain how Runner of the Year Anneka Wilson was selected.  Watch Video »
Runner of the Year
Anneka Wilson
Potomac School Jr.
Wilson went unbeaten during the high school season, winning six invitationals, the Independent Schools League championship (17:44) and the Virginia Independent Schools title (18:33).
When did you know you were good at your sport?
"It was Octoberfest [this year] at Great Meadow. I've always had it in my mind that was a horrible course and I hated it because it was so hard. But I ran 18:06 on it and I was like, 'Wow, if I can come so close to 18 on this kind of course, I can really do something with this.' That was really the meet that changed it for me."

Julie Braven
George Mason
Bravin challenged her young team to reach beyond what they thought possible, and the Mustangs rewarded the 10th-year coach with the program's first district, region and state titles. "She toughens you up," junior Courtney Ready said.
