Player of the Year
P Kenny Nelson, Riverdale Baptist, Sr.
Three-time All-Met was 11-1 with a 0.90 ERA through May 18. Struck out 152 while walking 11. He also was hitting .511 with 9 home runs and 62 RBI. Signed with Arizona State.



Coach of the Year
Tyrone Massenburg, Central
Guided the Capitol Heights school to 16-1 in the regular season and a second straight Prince George's 2A/1A championship. The Falcons are 30-3 over the last two years. Central had never won more than five games in a season before Massenburg took over the program seven years ago.



First Team
P Josh Banks, Severna Park, Sr.
Went 9-0 with a 1.27 ERA in 55B innings. Struck out 93 and walked eight. Committed to Florida International. Team won Anne Arundel County championship.

P Corey Consuegra, Damascus, Sr.
Went 5-0 with a 1.20 ERA as Swarmin' Hornets advanced to Maryland 3A semifinals. Also hit .481 with 7 home runs, 23 RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

P Jeff Hahn, Handley, Sr.
Went 6-1 with a 0.75 ERA in regular season. A dominating presence at 6-5, 190, Hahn is 16-1 since his sophomore season. Signed with Clemson.

P Joe Koshansky, Chantilly, Sr.
The 6-4, 190-pounder was 8-0 with seven complete games; had 91 strikeouts and 10 walks in 60 innings. Had 0.74 ERA, also hit .320. Signed with Virginia.

C Jason Maxey, Hammond, Sr.
Broke the Maryland public school record for RBI in a season with 45. Hit .600 with nine home runs. Committed only one error and allowed two passed balls.

1B Mikey Sweeney, Riverdale Baptist, Jr.
Set the Maryland private school records for home runs and RBI this season, with 17 home runs and 86 RBI through May 18.

2B Ethan Lare, Lake Braddock, Sr.
Batted .531 with five home runs and 20 RBI; stole seven bases in seven attempts. He fielded 1.000 in 38 chances at second base and shortstop.

3B Kenny Bragg, La Plata, Sr.
Hit .520 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI for Maryland 3A South Region champs. He also had three grand slams. Signed with Chowan College.

SS Jeff Palumbo, St. John's, Sr.
Four-year starter. Two-time All-Met batted .467 with 22 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 31 runs scored. Signed with George Mason.

OF Juan Brito, High Point, Sr.
Hit .672 as High Point advanced to the Maryland 4A South Region final. He also had 7 home runs, 35 RBI, 10 stolen bases and scored 23 runs.

OF Andy Jewell, Lee, Sr.
Batted .430 with 5 home runs and 16 RBI. Went 5-0 as pitcher with a 2.00 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 27 innings. AAA Liberty District player of the year.

OF Jeff Lizama, West Springfield, Sr.
Batted .450 with 3 home runs, 27 RBI and 11 doubles. On the mound, the 6-foot left-hander went 7-2 with an ERA under 1.00.

UT Brian McKenna, Watkins Mill, Sr.
Hit .500 with 29 RBI and 11 doubles and committed only three errors through regional final. Had 105 career hits. Committed to Towson.
