The eight-time All-Met ran the nation's fastest time (4 minutes 8.35 seconds) to win the mile at the Southern Track Classic. His time of 8:56.49 in the 3,200 meters at the Arcadia Invitational was fastest in the area.

Oakland Mills

In Singleton's 10th and final year at Oakland Mills, the Scorpions won their eighth Maryland 1A outdoor championship. Oakland Mills won the Howard County championship for the first time in eight years and followed it up with the 1A South Region championship.

First Team
Phil Gaeta, Oakton, Sr.: Three-time All-Met was Virginia AAA Northern Region champion in 400 and 1,600. Also won the 800 in Concorde District meet. Will attend American.
Craig Gallimore, Lake Braddock, Jr.: Two-time All-Met had area's best time in the 300 hurdles (38.23). Won Virginia AAA title in 300 hurdles. Holds Patriot District record in the 110 hurdles.
Damon T. Hill, Gaithersburg, Sr.: Won Montgomery County championships in the high jump (area-best 6 feet 8), long jump (22-4) and 100 (10.5). Also won the 100 as team won Maryland 4A championship.
Steve Huntzinger, Robinson, Jr.: The two-time All-Met was the Washington area's top performer in the discus (176 feet 11) and shot put (60 feet 8.75). His top discus throw came in the Virginia AAA Northern Region meet.
James Marshall, Ballou, Sr.: At DCIAA championship, won the 110 and 300 hurdles and 800, was second in the 1,600 as the Knights won their sixth consecutive boys' team title.
Herbert Nicholls, Gwynn Park, Sr.: Won the Prince George's County, 3A South Region and Maryland 3A state titles in the 200 and 400 meters. Set Maryland 3A record in the 300 in indoor season (34.6 seconds).
Tim Riley, Suitland, Sr.: Two-time All-Met was Prince George's County champion in the 300 hurdles and 800 and regional champion in 800. Helped lead Rams to Maryland 4A South championship.
Reynold L. Smith Jr., Forest Park, Jr.: Virginia AAA Cardinal District champion in the triple jump; had area-best triple jump (48 feet 6.5) to win Gojekian Relays.
Richard Smith, South Lakes, Sr.: Two-time All-Met broke record to win Virginia AAA Northern Region title in the 800 (1:50.08). Ran 4:14 in the 1,600 and 48.22 in the 400. Will run for Tennessee.
Bryan Steele, Gaithersburg, Sr.: Won Montgomery County and 4A West Region championships in the 400 and 800 and Maryland 4A title in the 800 (1:55.69). Will attend Long Island University.
Shane Stroup, River Hill, Sr.: Second in mile at Penn Relays (4:11.35). Broke a 28-year-old Maryland meet record in the 1,600 (4:07.11). Will run for Florida.
David Sullivan, Centreville, Sr.: Broke Virginia AAA Northern Region record with winning pole vault of 16 feet 4. Vaulted to title at Penn Relays (15-9). Will attend Virginia.
Paul Young Jr., Oxon Hill, Sr.: Two-time All-Met won Maryland 4A championship in the 200 (21.91 seconds) and 400 (47.95) and finished third in the 100. Took 300 title in Maryland 4A/3A meet.

The three-time All-Met won the 100, 200 and long jump at the Prince George's County championships and at the Maryland 4A championships. Also won the 100 and 200 at the Maryland 4A South Region meet.

In Parry's 17th year as the Trojans' head coach, Gaithersburg finished Montgomery County's dual-meet season undefeated and won the Maryland 4A West Region for the fifth consecutive season. The Trojans boys won their third state title in five years.

Sarah Bowman, Fauquier, Fr.: Won the 1,600 at Handley Invitational (4:58.2, second-fastest time in area). Also has cleared 5 feet 4 in high jump.
Shylan Bumbrey, James Monroe, Fr.: Ran the area's second-fastest time in the 800 (2:13.91) to win T.C. Williams Invitational. Already holds school records in the 400 (59.5) and 800.
Keira Carlstrom, Oakton, Sr.: Five-time All-Met ran the area's top time in the 800 (2:13.12), 1,600 (4:55.47) and 3,200 (10:30.81). Will attend American.
Denise Cruse, Elizabeth Seton, Sr.: Carried the Roadrunners to the WCAC title with victories in the 100, 200 and 400, earning meet most valuable player honors for the third consecutive season. Will run for Clemson.
Tiffany Evans, Gar-Field, Jr.: Two-time All-Met broke school records in the shot put (45 feet 7.5) and discus (128 feet 3). Won championships in both events at Virginia AAA Northwestern Region meet.
Jessica Lauren Graff, Urbana, Sr.: Two-time All-Met tied Penn Relays record in pole vault (12 feet 7.5). Won Maryland 3A West and state title in pole vault. Will compete for Georgia Tech.
Lindsay Grigoriev, Atholton, Jr.: Broke Penn Relays record in discus (151 feet 10). Won championships at Maryland 2A meet in discus, shot put and 100 hurdles.
Bonnie Meekins, Oakton, Sr.: Three-time All-Met won high jump at Southern Track Classic, T.C. Williams Invitational and Concorde District meet. Will attend William & Mary.
Nana Meriwether, Sidwell Friends, Jr.: Won ISL high jump title with school- and league-record leap of 5 feet 9. Also won ISL 200 and 400 titles. Best 400 time: 55.3 seconds.
Romona Modeste, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.: Won the 400 hurdles at the Jaguar Invitational in nation's best time of 59.83 seconds. Captured Maryland 4A title in the 300 hurdles in 43.45.
Junique Morris, T.C. Williams, Sr.: Ran Virginia AAA Northern Region's top times in the 100, 200 and 400 meters; regional champion in the 400. Won the 100 and 200 at Patriot District meet.
Tiffany Nesfield, C.H. Flowers, Soph.: Two-time All-Met was Prince George's County and 4A South Regional champion in the 100 hurdles and county champion in the 300 hurdles. Won the 100 hurdles at state meet (14.86).
Alexandra Van Heuven, Lake Braddock, Sr.: Three-time All-Met owns top-five Virginia AAA Northern Region times or marks in five events, and three school records. Will compete for Georgia Tech.
