Player of the Year

Jason Farley, Sr.
Pitcher  |  Madison
The repeat All-Met was the cornerstone of a nationally ranked Warhawks team with a bountiful senior class. The left-hander went 8-1 and had a save, with 56 strikeouts, 9 walks and a 1.20 ERA in 52 2/3 innings. He also batted .371 with 11 RBI for the Virginia AAA Liberty District champions. Will play for Virginia Military Institute.

In his fifth season, quickly turned Panthers into one of the region's top programs. Guided the Fairfax private school to the best season in team history, going 27-4 and winning the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.


First Team

Kevin Brady  Gaithersburg | First Base | Jr.
Batted team-high .439 with 10 doubles and 28 RBI. He also was a standout pitcher, going 9-0 with 0.84 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 58 innings. Threw three no-hitters and one perfect game.

AJ Johnson  Robinson | Second Base | Sr.
Also the Concorde District champion's top pitcher with a 7-1 record, 1.09 ERA and two saves, Johnson batted .320 with five home runs and 20 RBI. Will play for George Washington.

Tyler Hibbs  Arundel | Shortstop | Jr.
Set a team record with a .603 batting average -- without a single strikeout -- and hit 11 doubles to lead the Wildcats to Anne Arundel County title. Also was 6-2 as a pitcher with 0.98 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 57 innings.

Ryan Crosby  Notre Dame | Third Base | Jr.
Batted .361 with 12 doubles and 25 RBI and helped the Dragons to the Virginia private school championship. As a pitcher, was 10-1 with 0.61 ERA, allowing only 35 hits in 69 innings.

Sean McCauley  Osbourn | Catcher | Sr.
The Cedar Run District player of the year was invaluable both behind the plate and on the mound, batting .607 with 10 extra-base hits and 23 RBI. He also went 6-1, with 52 strikeouts, 3 walks and a 1.49 ERA. Will play for Western Carolina.

Drew Hoffmaster  Sherwood | Pitcher | Sr.
Emerged as a top player while leading Warriors to Maryland 4A semifinals. Was 12-1 with 0.46 ERA, allowing just 12 walks in 73 1/3 innings as undefeated Sherwood advanced to the Maryland 4A championship game. Will play for Catholic.

Sean Chitsaz  Lake Braddock | Pitcher | Sr.
The defending Northern Region champion Bruins' ace went 7-0 with a save and struck out 85 batters in 46 innings while walking only 14. He had a 1.06 ERA. Will play for Christopher Newport.

L.J. Hoes  St. John's | Outfield | Jr.
The repeat All-Met was one of the Washington area's most feared hitters. Batted .488 with seven doubles and seven homers while walking 17 times. Stole 23 bases, scored 36 runs and had 40 RBI.

Peter Verdin  Paul VI Catholic | Outfield | Jr.
Leadoff batter was the offensive catalyst for WCAC champions, batting .458 with 12 doubles and 22 RBI. Stole 20 bases and scored 35 runs. Had seven outfield assists. As a pitcher, went 2-0 with three saves. Committed to Georgia.

Matt Sliwiak  Gonzaga | Outfield | Sr.
Terrific power and speed for a leadoff hitter. Batted .427 with 13 doubles and five homers. Stole 10 bases, scored 38 runs and had 25 RBI. Was 3-2 as a pitcher with 3.80 ERA. Will play for Davidson.

Ty Main  Middletown | Outfield | Sr.
Batted .448 with 18 RBI and 25 runs scored and was instrumental in helping Knights win 17 consecutive games to advance to Maryland 2A championship game. As a pitcher, was 9-0 with 0.51 ERA.

Seth Williams  Edison | Designated Hitter | Sr.
The Eagles' slugger hit 14 home runs, including three grand slams, with a .481 batting average and 30 RBI. He also went 4-1 on the mound, with 72 strikeouts in 37 innings. Will play for Michigan State.

Danny Hultzen  St. Albans | Pitcher | Jr.
Lefty was 7-1 with 0.35 ERA, allowing just three runs (two earned) in 52 innings with 105 strikeouts and 12 walks for the Interstate Athletic Conference champions. Also batted .478 with four homers and 30 RBI.

Justin Wright  Forest Park | Pitcher | Sr.
Small but powerful left-went 7-0 with a 0.70 ERA, 72 strikeouts and 16 walks 50 1/3 innings. He also .350 for the Bruins. Will Virginia Tech.
