What Does It Take to Be an All-Met?
The Washington Post's scholastic sports staff asked, and All-Mets answered:
Megan McDonald, Carissa Potente and Jacquine Teets

Gymnast of the Year / Coaches of the Year

Maria Hayden | Herndon So.
Scored a perfect 10 on the uneven bars at a meet Jan. 16. Repeat All-Met was dominant early in the postseason, winning all four events and the all-around title in the Concorde District as well as the Northern Region all-around, bars and floor titles.
Favorite piece of equipment: A four-foot-long, red, white and black scarf
I dont go anywhere without it, Hayden said. I bring it to meets, its sort of a good luck charm. . . . The scarf is really warm and comfortable and even makes for a nice pillow.

Monica Brown and Mandy Seal | Osbourn Park
Despite losing 2007 All-Met Kendra Burgsteiner from last years state champion team, the duo led their squad to repeats of the Cedar Run District, Northwest Region and Virginia AAA titles, scoring 147.825 or better at each postseason meet.
