Wrestler of the Year
Kevin Gabrielson, 152, DeMatha, Sr. (49-0)
Two-time National Prep champion won prestigious Beast of the East Tournamement Dec. 16-17 in Newark, Del. Repeat All-Met also won St. Albans Invitational and was named outstanding wrestler at Arundel, Hammond, Maryland Catholic and Maryland Independent Schools tournaments. Three-time WCAC champion has a career record of 180-11.



Coach of the Year
Rick Smith, Paint Branch
Led by a group of football players he recruited three years ago, Smith's team finished 17-0 this season and won the Maryland 4A/3A tournament for the first time in 23 seasons. The Panthers won every tournament they entered this season, including the Delmarva Classic and Hub Cup, and were the Montgomery County, 4A/3A West Region and Maryland 4A/3A Dual Meet champions.

103 Danny April, Churchill, Fr. (34-0)
Montgomery County, 4A/3A West Region and Maryland 4A/3A champion. First at Arundel Invitational, first at Big M and Sidwell Friends tournaments.

112 Rudy Rueda III, DeMatha, Fr. (40-4)
National Prep champion won the Arundel Invitational and received a gold medal at the Gilman Duals. First at Cardinal, St. Albans and WCAC tournaments.

119 Kyle Graham, Colonial Forge, Jr. (49-3)
Commonwealth District and Northwestern Region champion was Virginia AAA runner-up. First at Capital Challenge and Eagle Holiday Classic. 119 Max Meltzer, Bullis, Jr. (41-4): Repeat All-Met won second straight National Prep title this season. Three-time Interstate Athletic Conference champion, two-time St. Albans and Maryland Independent Schools champion.

Matt Ennis, Wilde Lake, Jr. (33-1)
Howard County, 4A/3A North Region and Maryland 4A/3A champion was first at Kent County and South River tournaments, second at Overlea Tournament.

119 Eric Hawes, Warren County, Sr. (34-1)
Three-time Northwestern District and Region II champion won Virginia AA title. First at Elks Classic, first at Fort Defiance Tournament. Career record: 125-10.

125 Matt Eveleth, Chesapeake, Jr. (32-0)
Three-time Anne Arundel County and 4A/3A East Region champion won second straight Maryland 4A/3A title. Career record: 97-3. Has won 66 consecutive matches.

125 Luke Palumbo, Annapolis Area Christian, Sr. (46-3)
Repeat All-Met won Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association title and placed fifth at National Preps. Three-time Patriot Classic champion. Career record: 158-24.

130 Jon Peters, Westlake, Sr. (34-2)
Two-time Southern Maryland Athletic Conference champion and 4A/3A South Region champion won Maryland 4A/3A title. First at Bowie Tournament and Patriot Classic.

135 Adam De Cosmo, Old Mill, Sr. (38-0)
Repeat All-Met won Anne Arundel County, 4A/3A East Region and Maryland 4A/3A titles. Set school record for single season and career victories. Career record: 140-14.

135 Ryan Mackin, Hammond, Sr. (42-2)
First at Howard County, 2A/1A South Region and Maryland 2A/1A tournaments. Named outstanding wrestler at Howard County tournament and Maryland Senior Classic.

145 Matt Palmer, Bullis, Jr. (47-5)
Three-time All-Met placed second at National Prep tournament. Three-time Interstate Athletic Conference and Maryland Independent Schools champion.

145 Reed Carpenter, O'Connell, Sr. (60-6)
Three-time All-Met is Virginia's all-time winningest wrestler with a career record of 210-17. First at WCAC and Virginia Independent Schools tournaments.

152 Adam James, Paint Branch, Sr. (41-0)
Two-time Montgomery County champion won 4A/3A West Region and Maryland 4A/3A titles. First at Bowie Invitational, first at Hub Cup, first at Delmarva Classic.

160 Wes Hawkins, Liberty, Sr. (42-1)
Three-time Northwestern District champion won Virginia AA title. First at Cougar Classic and Elks Invitational, second at Region II tournament. Career record 153-11.

171 Josh Walker, Stonewall Jackson, Sr. (44-1)
Two-time Cardinal District champion won Northwestern Region and Virginia AAA titles. First at Raider Open and first at Eagle Holiday Classic. Career record: 126-25.

171 Nick Carrington, McDonough, Sr. (33-1)
Two-time Southern Maryland Athletic Conference champion placed first in Maryland 4A/3A, second in 4A/3A South Region. First at Braves Invitational and Lackey Tournament.

189 Chad Malone, Potomac, Sr. (49-3)
Won Cardinal District Championship, was runner-up at Northwestern Region meet and Virginia AAA Champion. First at Western Branch Rotational, second at Lee-Davis Invitational.

189 Chuck Yetter, DeMatha, Sr. (29-2)
Three-time WCAC champ won gold medals at the Gilman Duals and Maryland State Senior Wrestling Classic. Won Maryland Independent Schools tournament.

215 Michael Petrash, Landon, Sr. (40-3)
Interstate Athletic Conference champion was National Prep runner-up. First at Big M and South River tournaments, won Gold Medal at Gilman Duals. Career record: 101-35.

Hvy. Floyd Wright, Hayfield, Sr. (44-2)
Patriot District, Northern Region and Virginia AAA champion. Was runner-up at Beast of the East Tournament. First at Northern Region Classic and Capital Challenge.

Hvy. Robert Scott, Oakland Mills, Sr. (38-0)
Three-time Howard County champion placed first at 2A/1A South Region and Maryland 2A/1A tournaments. Was first at Big M, Damascus Holiday, and Arundel tournaments.
