Athlete of the Year
Tiandra Ponteen, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.
Florida-bound sprinter repeats as Athlete of the Year after winning Maryland 4A/3A titles in the 300 (39.19) and 500 (1:15.73) and finishing fourth in the 55 (7.33). Ran nation's fastest flat-track time this season in the 400 (55.00) to win second consecutive Nike Indoor Championship.



Coach of the Year
Larry Colbert, Eleanor Roosevelt
Led the Raiders to their third straight Maryland 4A/3A title, their eighth in the past 10 years. Colbert builds success at the grassroots level, running the Glenarden Track Club, which boasts 300 athletes. Recently inducted into the USA Track & Field Masters Hall of Fame, he was also voted the 2002 male masters athlete of the year. Colbert was named The Post's Coach of the Year after the 1991-92 indoor season and the 1993 outdoor season.



First Team
Toni Aluko, Paint Branch, Jr.
One of nation's top 10 high jumpers won the Maryland 3A/2A championship, clearing 5 feet 8.25 inches, and was second at Nike Indoor Championships at 5-8.75.

Afua Amponsah, Gar-Field, Sr.
Annandale transfer ran nation's fifth-fastest time this year in 55 hurdles (7.99). Won AAA Northwestern Region titles in 55 hurdles, 55 dash and 300 meters.

Crystal Anyanwu, Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.
Ran a national top-10 banked-track 800 time (2:13.84), won second straight Maryland 4A/3A 800 title and ran on 4x400 and sprint medley relays that won Nike Indoor Championships.

Sarah Bowman, Fauquier, Soph.
Ran nation's fastest mile (4:49.67) this season to win Nike Indoor Championships. Set Virginia AA championship records in 1,600 (5:00.59) and 1,000 (2:52.44, the nation's third-fastest time this season).

Sirdonea Davis, Largo, Sr.
Has a national top-10 500 time (1:16.43), ran on Maryland 4A/3A champion 4x400 team and on 4x200 team that was ranked top-five nationally.

Tiffany Evans, Gar-Field, Sr.
Repeat All-Met won Virginia AAA shot put championship with one of nation's top 15 marks this season (45 feet, 8 inches). Placed fourth at Nike Indoor Championships.

Lindsay Grigoriev, Atholton, Sr.
Won Maryland 2A/1A championships in shot put and 55 hurdles (8.71). Ranked top 10 nationally after throwing 47-0.25 at Nike Indoor Championships.

Huma Husain, West Springfield, Sr.
Won Virginia AAA 1,000 title in 2:57.79, one of top 20 times in nation. Sixth in 800 at Nike Indoor Championships. Anchored state runner-up 4x800 team.

Elizabeth Jackson, Suitland, Sr.
Area's top triple jumper was ranked in the top 15 nationally this season, clearing 38 feet, 3.5 inches at the Microtel Invitational.

Tiffany Nesfield, C.H. Flowers, Jr.
Repeat All-Met won Maryland 4A/3A title in 55 hurdles in a state-record 8.15 seconds. Also ran on state champion 4x200 relay.

Andria Smallwood, Ballou, Fr.
DCIAA champion in the 300, 500 and 1,000 ran nation's second-fastest flat-track 800 (2:12.52), placing second at Nike Indoor Championship, and fifth-fastest banked-track 500 (1:18.10).
