Performer of the Year
Kassy Kugler, Sherwood, Jr.
Three-time All-Met won 50 and 100 freestyle at Montgomery County and Metros championships. Set Metros records in both events, including lowering her own mark in the 100 freestyle, set one year earlier. Will compete in U.S. Olympic trials in Long Beach, Calif., this summer.

Coach of the Year
Evan Stiles, O'Connell
In his 11 years at the Arlington school, Stiles has coached 12 all-Americans. This season, he guided O'Connell to the Prep League title, a second-place finish at Metros and compiled a 4-2-1 record in the competitive Prep League.

First Team
Sarah Baker, Robinson, Jr.
Set Virginia AAA records in 200 and 500 freestyle at state meet. Won district title and regional titles in 500 freestyle and district title in 100 backstroke. Holds three school records.

Yeng Lan Beller, Westfield, Soph.
Repeat All-Met successfully defended her Virginia AAA title in 100 butterfly. Won same event along with 200 individual medley at regionals. Also won Concorde District titles in 200 and 500 freestyle.

Liz Kemp, Good Counsel, Soph.
Lowered her team records in the 100 freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. Repeat All-Met earned automatic all-American time in 100 freestyle and guided the Falcons to Metros title.

Colleen Law, Holton-Arms, Soph.
Two-time All-Met won 50 and 100 freestyle events at Prep League and Independent School League championships. Led Holton-Arms to ISL championship.

Christine Nichols, W.T. Woodson, Jr.
Set AAA Northern Region records in 50 and 100 freestyle. Holds school records in 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.

Julie O'Brien, Damascus, Sr.
The Montgomery County and Metros champion in the 200 individual medley will swim at Maryland next season. Also finished second in 500 freestyle at Metros.

Lindsay Rogers, Stone Ridge, Sr.
Swept the 100 breaststroke at Metros, Prep League championships and Independent School League championships. Will swim at Connecticut next year.

Emily Verdin, Jefferson, Sr.
Three-time All-Met broke records in 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke at Virginia AAA meet. Holder of five individual records at Jefferson. Will attend California in the fall.

Kate Ziegler, O'Connell, Soph.
Repeat All-Met took first place and set records in 200 and 500 at Metros, eclipsing her record set last year in the 500. Will compete in U.S. Olympic trials this summer.
