Athlete of the Year

Sarah Bowman | Fauquier, Sr.
The seven-time All-Met added another accolade to her illustrious running career at the Virginia AA championships by setting a national record in the 1,000 meters (2 minutes 43.40 seconds), breaking the two-year-old mark by more than two seconds. She was also the area leader in the 600 (1:33.17), 800 (2:14.08) and mile (4:46.35). She will run for Tennessee.

Coach of the Year

Bob Digby | Lake Braddock
One of the Virginia AAA Northern Region's most successful coaches, Digby will retire in May without ever having lost an indoor dual or quad meet. The Bruins won their fifth straight Patriot District title, their fourth region crown in five years, and finished second at the Virginia AAA championships.

First Team

Murielle Ahoure | Hayfield, Sr.
The AAA Northern Region's champion and one of the area leaders in the 55 meters. The two-time All-Met had a season-best mark of 7.15 seconds in finishing third at the Virginia AAA meet.

Melissa Dewey | Hayfield, Sr.
An all-American in cross-country, the four-time All-Met stayed hot indoors, winning a Virginia AAA title in the 3,200. Won the Northern Region title in the 3,200 in 10:34.62.

Michaylin Golladay | Largo, Jr.
The three-time All-Met was the Maryland 4A/3A champ in the 300 meters (area-best 39.35 seconds). Ran area-best time in the 55 (7.12) to win the Prince George's County title.

Ashley Haislip | Lake Braddock, Sr.
Three-time All-Met set the Northern Region indoor record in the high jump (5 feet 9) and then won her third consecutive Virginia AAA title (5 feet 8). Also pole vaulted 10 feet 3.

Bever-Leigh Holloway | Eleanor Roosevelt, Sr.
The repeat All-Met was the area's best in the 55 hurdles and second in the 55 dash, finishing second at the Maryland 4A/3A meet in both. Her hurdles time of 8.18 seconds was 10th in the nation.

Krystin Lawson | Riverdale Baptist, Fr.
The newcomer held her own against the area's best, and she capped her season by earning all-America honors after finishing sixth at the Nike Indoor Nationals in the 200 meters.

Danielle Light | Oakton, Sr.
Light was the area's second best in the 1,600, with a season-best time of 4:59.85. Captured the Virginia AAA title in the 1,600 and was the Northern Region champ in the 500.

Anna Noguchi | Lake Braddock, Jr.
Noguchi took second in the pole vault at the Virginia AAA meet with a career-best vault of 11 feet, the area's top vault this season. She was the AAA Northern Region runner-up.

Andria Smallwood | Ballou, Jr.
A five-time All-Met, Smallwood led her team to the DCIAA championship with wins in the 300 (39.51 seconds, second best in area) and 500 (area-best 1:15.10).

Alison Smith | Atholton, Soph.
A two-time All-Met, Smith was the Maryland 2A champ in both the 1,600 and 3,200. Ran a time of 5:00.12 in the mile to capture fourth at the New Balance Games.

Nakeisha Wineglass | Hayfield, Sr.
Emerged late in the season with two nationally-ranked performances in the triple jump. Won the Virginia AAA title (39 feet 8 inches) and then took third at Nike Indoor Nationals (39-6).
