Only one event will be held here, the biathlon. Originally, biathlon events were to take place in Hakuba, but they were moved when it was discovered that competing there would disturb some goshawk nesting grounds. Two 4km trails, designated "A" and "B," are laid out in an area 1 kilometer (.38 miles) square. The trails are 7m wide and meander within the vicinity of the grandstand and shooting range.
