"It will be the toughest ice hockey tournament of all times," head coach Hannu Aravirta said. "Looking at the names, our team is the best Finnish side ever on ice. Our official target is to win a medal. This is realistic." Canada, Russia, the Czech Republic, the United States, Sweden and Finland are favorites for medals at Nagano. "We will play good ice hockey. This team has skill, strength and the special situation ability needed," Aravirta said. Finnish women are among the favorites for gold at Nagano, where women's ice hockey makes its debut.
