Fun Facts

When she won the world championship in 1996 at 15, Kwan became the third-youngest skater to ever accomplish the feat.
Two years earlier, she was the first alternate for the U.S. Olympic figure skating team at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics, and was on hand in Norway in case Nancy Kerrigan or Tonya Harding could not compete.
Kwan began ice skating when she was 5. In her free time, she enjoys biking, bowling, swimming and riding her four-wheeler. Her family owns a Chinese restaurant in Torrance, Calif.
