Answers to Snowboarding Trivia 1. The Snurfer, invented by industrial engineer Sherman Poppen, who saw his daughter attempting to stand on her sled while sliding down a hill. He licensed his invention to the Brunswick Corp., which sold them nationally for about $10. 2. Sondra Van Ert of Des Moines, Iowa, won the women's giant slalom at the 1997 World Championships in San Candido, Italy. 3.
