Answers to Snowboarding Trivia

1. The Snurfer, invented by industrial engineer Sherman Poppen, who saw his daughter attempting to stand on her sled while sliding down a hill. He licensed his invention to the Brunswick Corp., which sold them nationally for about $10.
2. Sondra Van Ert of Des Moines, Iowa, won the women's giant slalom at the 1997 World Championships in San Candido, Italy.
3. The IOC voted to include snowboarding in the Nagano Games on Dec. 5, 1995.
