Steven Goff has covered soccer at The Washington Post since 1987. He has covered the NCAA final four six times and has followed the U.S. men's and women's national teams for several years. During the 1994 World Cup in the United States, Goff was on assignment at 16 matches, including Ireland's upset of Italy, Bulgaria's stunning victory over Germany in the quarterfinals, the Italy-Bulgaria semifinal and the championship game at the Rose Bowl.
Goff has been to club games in England and Greece, assisted with NBC's coverage of the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and covered a U.S.-Ireland friendly match in Dublin in 1992. Currently, he is covering D.C. United, Washington's Major League Soccer franchise, as well as the men's national team as it prepares for 1998 World Cup qualifying. He'll also be involved in the coverage of Olympic first-round games at Washington's RFK Stadium this summer.
Goff, a native of New Hampshire, is a 1988 graduate of American University in Washington, D.C.
