Mark Maske's Mock NFL Draft Web Posted: Tuesday, April 19, 2005; 11:25 a.m. EDT Editor's Note: The number in parenthesis is Mark's projection from Monday's mock draft. 1. 49ers -- Alex Smith, QB, Utah (3) That's if the 49ers can get a contract done with agent Tom Condon, which is less than a certainty. 2. Dolphins -- Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn (2) It's still hard to believe they won't take a running back. 3. Browns -- Aaron Rodgers, QB, Cal (1) He possibly could plummet in the first-round order, especially if Cleveland trades for Patriots backup QB Rohan Davey. 4. Bears -- Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan (4) Many teams have him atop their draft boards. 5. Buccaneers -- Cedric Benson, RB, Texas (5) One NFL executive said last week he's the best player in the draft. 6. Titans -- Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami (6) Could new offensive coordinator Norm Chow talk the Titans into selecting Williams, his former star at USC? 7. Vikings -- Mike Williams, WR, USC (7) They simply can't let this potential Randy Moss replacement go by if he's still available. 8. Cardinals -- Carnell (Cadillac) Williams, RB, Auburn (8) This would seem to be the latest he could go. 9. Redskins -- Adam (Pac-Man) Jones, CB, West Virginia (9) This could change if the Redskins trade for a veteran cornerback. 10. Lions -- Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas (10) Johnson or Merriman? 11. Cowboys -- Shawne Merriman, DE, Maryland (11) Merriman's camp believes he won't fall below 11th. 12. Chargers -- Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina (12) San Diego goes offense with the first of its two first-rounders. 13. Texans -- Alex Barron, T, Florida State (13) It's widely assumed that he'll be the first offensive lineman drafted. 14. Panthers -- Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma (14) Is vying with Williamson to be the third wideout taken. 15. Chiefs -- Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn (15) That would make it three cornerbacks in the draft's top 15 players. 16. Saints -- Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin (16) Bolsters the position in case New Orleans trades Darren Howard. 17. Bengals -- Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State (17) Best defensive tackle in a down year for the position. 18. Vikings -- Marcus Spears, DE, LSU (18) Minnesota gets defensive help after bolstering the offense at No. 7. 19. Rams -- Jammal Brown, T, Oklahoma (19) St. Louis needs help at the position with Kyle Turley hurt and now talking about moving to defense. 20. Cowboys -- Khalif Barnes, T, Washington (20) This pick could be a wide receiver but the offensive line needs help, too. 21. Jaguars -- Matt Roth, DE, Iowa (21) Defensive end was a problem spot for the Jaguars last season. 22. Ravens -- Roddy White, WR, Alabama-Birmingham (22) They got Derrick Mason in free agency, but this wide-receiver corps was severely lacking. 23. Seahawks -- Shaun Cody, DT-DE, USC (23) A versatile defensive lineman. 24. Packers -- David Pollack, DE, Georgia (24) A defensive playmaker. 25. Broncos -- Thomas Davis, S, Georgia (25) A replacement for departed free agent Kenoy Kennedy, but he could be gone by this point. 26. Jets -- Heath Miller, TE, Virginia (26) The best tight end available. 27. Falcons -- Reggie Brown, WR, Georgia (27) Atlanta desperately needs receiver help. 28. Chargers -- Demarcus Ware, LB, Troy State (28) The Chargers get a pass rusher after going offense at No. 12. 29. Colts -- Channing Crowder, LB, Florida (29) Indy simply must have defensive help. 30. Steelers -- Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma (30) The league's best defense gets better. 31. Eagles -- Matt Jones, WR, Arkansas (31) Freddie Mitchell is on the way out and Terrell Owens wants a new contract, so why not take the draft's most intriguing player? 31. Patriots -- Fabian Washington, CB, Nebraska (32) The champs need depth at cornerback and linebacker. © 2005 The Washington Post Company |
