The Baltimore Ravens raised more than $76,000 for American Red Cross to help those suffering from the tsunami that devastated parts of South Asia last weekend.

Owner Steve Bisciotti came up with the plan, in which the Ravens gave $15,000 and agreed to match up to $10,000 donated by fans attending yesterday's game against the Miami Dolphins. Volunteers carrying white buckets manned the entrances to M&T Bank Stadium and collected $51,475 from fans.

The money, which will be distributed by the American Red Cross International Response Fund, will be used for food, clothing, shelter, hygiene kits, tents and mental health counseling.

Volunteers also accepted donations at yesterday's game in Seattle between the Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons. The New York Giants, through the humanitarian aid group AmeriCares, planned to collect money before their game last night against Dallas.

Redskins officials said yesterday that they were unaware of a similar relief effort at FedEx Field.

A tsunami in the Indian Ocean triggered by a subsea earthquake has claimed than 123,000 lives throughout South Asia, including 80,000 in Indonesia, 28,700 in Sri Lanka and 9,000 in India.

The earthquake originated near Sumatra and wreaked havoc on the coastlines of 12 countries, from Malaysia to Somalia and almost 4,000 miles away in East Africa. The water wiped away villages, tossed multi-ton fishing vessels into parking lots and inundated the swimming pools and lobbies of $300-a-night tropical resorts.

Holt Reaches Yard Mark
Rams wide receiver Torry Holt became the first player in NFL history with five straight 1,300-yard seasons when he caught a 44-yard touchdown pass near the end of the first half during a 32-29 overtime win against the New York Jets in St. Louis.

Holt entered the game needing exactly 44 yards to reach the milestone, and the reception from quarterback Marc Bulger was his first of the game. It also gave the Rams a 14-10 lead at the break.

Two days before the game, Holt joked that he needed "just one deep ball" to get to 1,300 yards.

Holt, who is in his sixth season, entered the game tied for second in the NFC with 87 catches and third with 1,256 yards. He finished yesterday's game with seven catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Star of the Day
Quarterback Marc Bulger threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns on 29-for-39 passing to lead the St. Louis Rams to a 32-29 win in overtime against the visiting New York Jets. Bulger went 3 for 3 on the final drive in overtime that set up the winning field goal.

Looking Ahead
St. Louis at Seattle. The Rams swept the regular season series, most recently winning, 23-12, on Nov. 14. Both teams won their regular season finales in dramatic fashion.

Minnesota at Green Bay. The Packers swept the regular season series and closed strong, winning three of their last four games. Minnesota has lost 20 of its past 22 games outdoors.

New York Jets at San Diego. The Jets won the head-to-head meeting this season, 34-28, but San Diego went on to win 10 of its next 12 games behind Drew Brees.

Denver at Indianapolis. A rematch of the teams' regular season finale, except this one will be at RCA Dome, where the Colts are 7-1 and Peyton Manning thrives.
