U.S. Duo Settles For Silver

ATLANTA -- The Australian team of Megan Still and Kate Slatter won the gold medal Saturday in the women's coxless pairs with a time of 7 minutes, 1.39 seconds.

The U.S. team of Missy Schwen (Bloomington, Ind.) and Karen Kraft (San Mateo, Calif.) won the silver in 7:01.78. The bronze went to France's Christine Gosse and Helene Cortin, 7:03.82. The Canadian pair of Marnie McBean and Kathleen Heddle won the gold medal Saturday in women's double sculls with a time of 6 minutes, 56.84 seconds.

Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent of Britain won the gold medal Saturday in the men's coxless pairs with a time of 6 minutes, 20.09 seconds.

The silver went to David Weightman and Robert Scott of Australia in 6:21.02. The French team of Michel Andrieux and Jean-Christophe Rolland won the bronze in 6:22.15.

Cao Mianying and Zhang Xiuyun of China won the silver in 6:58.35. The bronze went to Irene Eljs and Eeke van Nes of the Netherlands, 6:58.72.

The Italian team of Davide Tizzano and Agostino Abbagnale won the men's double sculls gold medal Saturday with a time of 6 minutes, 16.98 seconds.

Kjetil Undset and Steffen Stoerseth of Norway were second in 6:18.42. The bronze went to Frederic Kowal and Samuel Barathay of France, 6:19.85.
