Canada won the Olympic gold medal in its national sport and passion, beating the United States, 5-2, Sunday.

Two Stripped of Medals
The International Olympic Committee stripped cross-country skiers Larissa Lazutina of Russia and Johann Muehlegg of Spain of their gold medals for failing a drug test.

The Medals

During Sunday's closing ceremonies, Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson passed the white Olympic flag to the mayor of Turin, Italy, host city of the 2006 Winter Games.

Americans won 34 medals — 10 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze. Their goal before the games was 20, and their previous winter high was 13. They finished second in the medals standings, one behind Germany.
