Reid Gets KO to Win Only U.S. Gold

American boxer David Reid
needed a knockout to get a gold medal. He got one just 36 seconds in the third round of his 156-pound bout against Cuban Alfredo Duvergel. Reid was trailing 16-6 at the time, and his victory kept alive America's streak of winning at least one Olympic boxing gold since 1948. American boxers also got five bronze medals, doubling the total of six medals they won in Barcelona in 1992.
Savon Leads Cubans to Pair of Golds
Felix Savon of Cuba has an awesome reputation, and David
Defiagbon of Canada obviously was aware of it, offering only token
resistance as Savon won his
second straight Olympic boxing heavyweight gold medal. Savon cruised to a 20-2 victory in the 201-pound bout to give Cuba one of their two boxing golds.
