Latest Action Romanian Rowing Team U.S. Women Fall Short
The U.S. women's eight rowing squad finished fourth, with Romania (pictured) celebrating after winning the gold medal on Sunday afternoon. The Romanians stroked hard for an early lead and never trailed in winning on the final day of rowing competition. Teresa Z. Bell and Lindsay Burns won silver in the double sculls as did the American men's quadruple sculls. The U.S. men's lightweight coxless four picked up a bronze.

Redgrave Wins Fourth Gold Medal
Steven Redgrave of Britain became only the fourth athlete to win a gold medal at four consecutive Olympics, teaming with Matthew Pinsent on Saturday to win rowing's coxless pairs. Redgrave also won golds in 1984 (coxed pair) and 1988 (coxless pair). He joins Danish yachtsman Paul Elvstrom, Hungarian fencer Aladar Gerevich and American discus thrower Al Oerter with a gold medal in four straight Olympics.

U.S. Duo Settles For Silver
The Australian team of Megan Still and Kate Slatter won the gold medal Saturday in the women's coxless pairs with a time of 7 minutes, 1.39 seconds. The U.S. team of Missy Schwen and Karen Kraft won the silver in 7:01.78. In other action, Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent of Britain won the gold medal Saturday in the men's coxless pairs.

Americans Can't Unseat British Duo
U.S. scullers Adam Holland and Mike Peterson went beyond human endurance trying to unseat defending gold medalists Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave in Olympic semifinals today, but it wasn't enough. The pair's lionhearted effort to upset the Britons, undefeated the past four years, left Peterson slumped unconscious over his oars, Holland in tears and their medal aspirations over. Overall, only two of six U.S. boats finished in the top three to make Saturday's six-boat finals.

U.S. Women One Race From History
The U.S. women's eight waited until the last 100 meters before making its move and catching Canada to win its repechage Wednesday and reach the Olympic finals. The American women are the favorites to win their first gold medal at a boycott-free Olympics after training more than three years together. Four of the six crews advanced to Sunday's final.

U.S. Men Feel Neglected by the Media
The U.S. men's eight rowing team has been feeling neglected by the media hype over the defending world champion U.S. women's eight team, which is the favorite to win its first gold medal at a boycott-free Olympics.
