Chinese Win Three Medals
China, which got off to shaky start in shooting, captured three medals Friday led by Yang Ling and Li Duihong. Yang won the 10-meter running target gold, and teammate Xiao Jun rallied from fifth place to take the silver. Li, the silver medalist in Barcelona four years ago, took the gold in the 25-meter women's pistol event.
Germany, Slovakia Take Home Golds
Jozef Gonci won the bronze medal Thursday in the Olympic 50-meter free
rifle prone finals, the first for Slovakia, which declared independence from Czechoslovakia in 1993. Germany's Christian Klees won the gold medal with a world-record score of 704.8 points. Teammate Ralf Schumann defended his title in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol finals, giving Germany its first two golds of these games.

Callahan: No. 1 With a Bullet
Libby Callahan serves the D.C. police force as an expert on crowd control, riots, and, most particularly, guns. Under normal circumstances, Callahan almost certainly would be at RFK Stadium to help organize security for the Olympic soccer matches to be played there. Instead, she's in Atlanta, one of two women to represent the United States in the sport pistol competition.
