Rob Hermann

Greco-Roman Head Coach

Hermann was the head coach of the 1995 U.S Greco-Roman Pan American Games team, which placed second to Cuba in the team standings. Three U.S. wrestlers won gold medals, and all 10 wrestlers claimed medals in the competition.

He was the head coach for the 1993 U.S. World Team, which placed 14th in the standings and included four wrestlers in the top 10 of their weight class. He also served as assistant coach on the 1994 U.S. World team which placed in a tie for seventh and produced one medal.

Hermann also helped with the 1992 U.S. Olympic team as a member of the coaching staff. He served as head coach of six U.S. teams which competed in foreign nations over the last four years.

He was head coach of the 1990 Pan American Championships squad, which was second as a team and included eight medalists. Hermann was head coach of the 1992 World Cup team, which placed second as a team, the highest finish in U.S. history.

He has served as the head coach of the U.S. Navy team since 1982, which includes many top wrestlers on the national scene. He has also coached the 1991 and 1995 U.S. Military Teams which competed at the World Military Championships. He is stationed on board the USS America.

As an athlete, Hermann won a bronze medal at the 1983 Pan American Games. He competed on three U.S. World Teams (1982-83, 1985), and won four National Greco-Roman titles. He competed for the USA at five World Cups, placing as high as second in the 1984 World Cup.

Hermann also won 11 Armed Forces titles, competing for the U.S. Navy. He attended Crystal River High School in Florida, and was a state wrestling champion as a senior in 1976. He was born Jan. 15, 1957 in Chicago, Ill.
