NFL 2011

Many faces of Redskins' QB instability

John Beck or Rex Grossman? Rex Grossman or John Beck? Now that they've decided on Grossman, the Redskins find themselves with yet another changing of the guard at quarterback, as Donovan McNabb's departure ensures that the team will have a brand-new passing leader. Which means that this season will have something in common with all too many of the 25 that preceded it. Since 1986, Washington has been led in passing yardage by 12 different quarterbacks. In all, 23 quarterbacks have started at least one game during that time span. To put those numbers in perspective in the 25 years before 1986, four quarterbacks — Joe Theismann, Billy Kilmer, Sonny Jurgensen and Norm Snead — started 85 percent of Washington's games, and only nine started even once.
