  • In 1972, Kilmer led the Redskins to their first-ever Super Bowl, which they lost, 14-7, to the unbeaten Miami Dolphins.

    Billy Kilmer was involved in the first real Redskins' quarterback controversy with Sonny Jurgensen. Their classic rivalry was captured in the photograph on the left, which has Kilmer (left) replacing Jurgensen (right) in a game.




  • In 1972, Kilmer was named to the Pro Bowl and the All-NFC Team.
