The Stadium

  • On clear days, downtown Washington, Rosslyn and even Tysons Corner in Virginia are visible from the upper level concourse. It's 152 feet from the ground-level plaza to the top of the stadium light towers.

  • The stadium contains more than 7,600 tons of structural steel.

  • It took 65,000 cubic yards of concrete to form the basic structure of the stadium.

  • Service level under the main concourse houses the commissary area for food preparation, the 14,000-square-foot Redskin locker room (the visitors' locker room is half that size), stadium operations, security and other offices.

    Scoreboards

  • Giant video screens (24 by 32 feet) in each end zone will show replays and highlights. Unlike at most stadiums, the screens and scoreboards are at the mid-level of the end zones, rather than atop the upper deck, allowing for easier visibility. The scoreboard controllers will also receive video feeds from other NFL games to show periodically.

  • In addition to game status figures, a portion of the scoreboard can show full-color animation and graphics. Additionally, two smaller scoreboards, parrallel to the sidelines, will show game status numbers.
