It's Official: Cooke Owns Stadium Site

Sale of the Wilson Farm -- the 200-acre site near Landover where the new Redskins football stadium is under construction -- to team owner Jack Kent Cooke was completed yesterday by Prince George's County officials.

Cooke's purchase of the property for $4.1 million -- completed after long negotiations -- was a key to the deal that brought the project to Prince George's.

William D. Miller II, senior policy adviser to County Executive Wayne K. Curry (D), said the settlement was amicable and "went without any hitches."

According to an agreement among Cooke, the county and the State of Maryland, the sale of the property had to be completed by yesterday

County officials said they soon expect to reach final agreement with Cooke over scheduling construction of county roads.
