Your Thoughts on the Redskins' Loss vs. Buffalo

Redskins Helmet Page 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

We asked our readers to react to Washington's loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Here is a sampling of the responses.

Advice to Eagles: Put your punter on the inactive list next week. With Skins Defense, he shouldn't be needed. Advice to Redskins: Need two punters on your active list because one is a head case.

Why did they try a 50+ field goal try in the 1st quarter. Very POOR coaching in my opinion.. They were out coached, out played.. Mr. Snyder PLEASE make some changes...

J. L. Parsons
Valley Lee, Maryland

I think that Derrik Smith is the best player on the Defense. He is the only real man on that defense. The rest are over paid wimps. The defensive coach is the worst. The Defense lineman give no run support and never put any presure on the QB.

You give up points on 5 of the first 6 possessions by your opponents? You surrender over 400 yards per game? You've got so many first-round draft picks on your starting defense that your salary cap is a size 3XL? You must be a defense coached by Mike Nolan. Time to wake up, gang, this defensive coaching staff has GOT TO GO!! Too much talent to be playing so bad.

CLEARLY THE REDSKINS DID NOT COME TO PLAY MABE THEY THOUGHT BUFFALO WAS GOING TO LAY DOWN AND HAND THEM THE GAME,THE REDSKIN'S FRONT SEVEN PLAYED LIKE A BUNCH POP WARNER PLAYERS AND BIG DADDY IS PLAYING LIKE BIG MAMMA,THE LNEBACKERS HAVE TO SHOOT THE GAPS MUCH FASTER.MY HONEST OPPINION DICK NOLAN IS A VERY BAD COORDINATER .

REGGIE
DC.

NO DEFENSE NO PLAYOFFS..... WILL THE REDSKINS EVER BEAT A TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD. NOT IN THIS CENTURY. Losses to the Giants, Lions, Colts and Dolphins will keep the Skins out of the Playoffs. Skins will lose last game of 99 (49ers) and first game of 00 Dolphins. And "It aint good entertainment!!!!

L.D. Meyer

Turn out the lights the party is over, no defense, no playoff. The defensive players and coaches have to go, and if that doesn't work, fire the whole team.

There is no consistency with this team, one week there on and the next week they are not. I really believe that Norv needs to more like a Jimmy Johnson but I think it is probably too late to be like that around this team. Basically this team is 500 or maybe 9 and 7

This ship is going down in flames and their isn't an offense on earth, let alone the NFL that can save this team or their domed coach! Unless Daniel Snyder can aford to line the defensive front with tanks and protect the air ways with anti-aircraft guns this season like the last five are over!!!!!!

The grade on the redskins is F good-by Norv.!!!!!!!!

I love Norv Turner but the defense is absolutely and undeniably embarassing! Fire Mike Nolan! What's the worst thing that could happen? We are already the worst defense in the NFL!!!

Unprepared; no game plan. No pass rush, no dominance, no home field advantage. Poor play calling.

dear mr. synder....can i please have a new defense for christmas.... your team is horrible....i am a life long fan....and the way the defense plays...gives me diahrea....thanks..... thanks alot....thanks for the heartache....if you don't fire NOLAN soon, i might as well shoot myself...because i rather that then watch this pitiful team anymore... you guys make me sick....i am ashamed to be a fan.... yours truly...STILL CAN'T WIN THE BIG GAME...and remember there is still no "D" in redskins.....RESKINS...

I think it must be clear by now, we need help with our DEFENSE! All the teams we play seem to have no fear of our defesive unit. Is it coaching, lack of heart, or old players? We need to take a close look and find the answer. Thanks,

Keith Baillieul

What the Redskins seemingly have is an Offensive Defense, something has to change.

I THINK THE DEFENSIVE COACH SHOULD BE FIRE. HE CANNOT GET THE JOB DONE.

CHRIS
FAIRFAX ,VA

The Redskins are playing for what they are -- a team of overall average talent. And all world-of-business-type harrassing of coach Turner by owner Snyder and passing the harrassment down to the players through the coach won't change that "We stink" should be translated to mean "We played against better players"; and "We played great" means the Skins played a weaker team. Read no more into it than that!

Thomas Buck
Rockville

Here it is mid-season and Nolan still doesn't know how to use the players he has or to position them effectively. Norv looked about as angry during the game as I have ever seen him. I'd have a word or two with Nolan and the special teams coach after the game before Synder has his with Norv. Something has to give here cause they won't make the playoffs like this.

Is Mike Nolan's job really secure? Really? How?

Rich

Why try a 52 yard field goal in the first quarter?

Tim Reynolds
Fayetteville, NC

It is amazing how pitiful the Redskins defense looks. I am really at a loss for words to describe the missed tackles, blown coverages, etc. Here's the big question: Will Mike Nolan be making the trip to Veterans Stadium with the team, or will he be seeking employment elsewhere by next Sunday? My guess is the latter, and rightfully so. As Leslie Shephard used to say so often last season: "We've hit rock-bottom." What would it hurt to bring in a new defensive coordinator?

Terence Schock
Weatherly, Pennsylvania

Appears the other team can also distance their receivers against our defensive backs but our receivers are always "body to body" against their back. What gives? Time for Nolan to exit. Can Turner be far behind? Where is the emotion, both from the players to the coaches? Appears only the fans get into the games.....

Kevin Harris
Staunton, VA

Hey guys. The only thing I want to say is Defense, Defense, Defense. I still love my Skins no matter. We see ya in January! Hail To The Redskins! A FAN FOR LIFE, Thomas Thorne

Thomas Collins Thorne
Washington, D.C.

Norv Turner can not get this team up for big games! Norv Turner is an outstanding offensive coordinator, but lacks the abilty to motivate his players. Bill Parcells is not a great football mind, yet he is successful because he posesses the intangibles required to inspire his players. Norv must go!

John Sterling
Alexandria

Somebody needs to teach this defense how to tackle, and play on third down. I hope they keep Norv, but Nolan has got to go.

Mark
Pembroke Pines, Fl.

Fire Nolan. File McDaniel. Get a defensive coordinator that knows what he's doing AND a special teams coach that does too.

Frank Shaffer
Easton, MD.

Can we possibly even begin to think about the play-offs? What in the world can we do about the leagues worst defense? Is Norv going to make some changes or is our new owner going to blow more hot air? Finally, when it comes to stewed prunes, is three enough? Is four too many? We need a whole new defensive scheme. Please God.

Jim
Portland, Or

Pathetic effort. You have to get up as a team one day a week and this coaching staff can't get them to do that???????

Brian B
New York

The worse ever. The defense should be run of town of a rail. They stink.

Margaret Hayes
Boca Raton, Fl

Buffalo RULES!!!! Take that Redskins!!!!

JPC
BUFFALO, NY

Incredible! I'll bet everybody in the DC area was praising the HECK out of the 'skins last week after beating Chicago. And now...I'll bet a huge number of you are wanting to lynch the defensive coordinator again! Wake up! Those two defensive tackles are colossal flops. And your coordinator has little to do with that. Face it, 'skins fans. You can't approach the Super Bowl with the league's doormat defense. You have to beat the best to be the best, and you can't even beat peers. Oh well...at least you don't have to face the Cowboys again.

Jerrry Benavides
Austin

I THOUGHT STUBBLEFIELD WAS A GREAT PICK UP FOR THE SKINS BUT I THINK LET MOST OF DC AND MARYLAND I WAS WRONG. I THINK WE NEED TO RELEASE HIM AND JUST TRY OUR LUCK WITH ANOTHER PLAYER. I THINK WE HAVE AN OFFENSE CAPABLE OF GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL BUT OUR DEFENSE CANNOT STOP ANYONE AGANIST THE RUN.I WILL ALWAYS STICK WITH THE SKINS THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND BAD TIMES. REDSKINS KEEP YOUR HEAD UP NO MATTER WHAT.

Brendan Noonan
Kesnington,Md

Its plain, week in,week out, the Redskins linebacking corp is not doing anyones job.I believe the Redskins need to find some experienced help and quit experimenting with these young, undersized L-backers. Speed is great but not if you run the wrong way.

Pat Davis
Tallahassee, Fla.

Everyone keeps saying the skins are going to the playoffs. What about now? Flutie ran through the defense like exlax. So, who's little Napoleon(Danny Boy) going to fire this week? When the Skins beat a good team, come back and talk about the playoffs, and dusting off the Bandwagon. But until then, keep the Meatwagon handy, and watch a real team like the Vikes go to work tomorrow night.

SJ
Blacksburg

Let's not fool ourselves, the Redskins' defense allowed alot of yards last week against Chicago, too. They can talk about missed assignments and not playing smart all they want, but it is obvious that the talent just isn't there. Quality talent, no matter how poorly coached, doesn't give up 400+ yards per game. Unfortunately, combined with a poor defensive coach, we see the results. Mike Nolan is no Richie Petibon, who used to maximize the marginal defensive talents his teams had. On the bright side we have 3 first round draft picks next year, which we should prudently use on defensive players. There will be a good defensive crop in the draft next year. Mike Nolan must go. As for this season, a winning record would be a reasonable accomplishment, because my hopes and aspirations are with next year's defense. The offense is already there.

Tarik Shinaishin
Vienna, Virginia

Hey Dan, Fire the entire defensive front 7 and start over. Oh, don't forget "Good ole Mickey Baby" I don't ever remember Washington having such a terrible defense. I guess we all now know what side the ball next years 3 number 1 picks will be on. Keep Norv as your offensive Coor.
