Your Thoughts on the Redskins' Loss vs. Buffalo

Redskins Helmet Page 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

We asked our readers to react to Washington's loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Here is a sampling of the responses.

1st of all John Kiem is the best. As far as the game is concerned we know we need to do something about the defense and hopfully soon. The offense will have a bad day or two so let's not panic yet. Turner is doing a great job and as a team I believe we'll have it together by the end of the year. Again don't panic. We can't win them all...yet! I love this team and have followed them since 1971. Hail to the Redskins.

HHMM!!! I am not going to complain about the game the Redskins just played. C'mon! who are we kidding? There's no way we're gonna get anywhere with that defense we have now. Let's just be honest with ourseleves and focus on the changes we have to make next year. We've got three number one picks, We need to upgrade out coaching staffs. Since we have a lot of talent in our offense - Many players out of free agency would love to play for the Skins. So let's not worry to much this year. We all agreed that Mike Nolan must go and he's still there. What good will our cry do? Think next year - Go Skins '00!

THE REDSKINS COACHING STAFF ARE IN DENIAL.WHEN MORE THAN ONE PERSON TELL THEM THEY NEED TO SEND IN MORE THAN FOUR GUYS RUSHING AND THEY DONT ON THIRD AND LONG; THEY NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THAT.THAT WHAT KILLING THEM. I CAN COMPLETE A PASS PLAYING AGAINST THEM AND IT SHOUND NOT BE THAT WAY. DEFENCE 8 MEN ON LINE- OFFENCE RUN ON FIRST AND SECOND AND PASS ON THIRD . KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID..

Until we beat a real team, we're just looking at another Norv Turner letdown season.

I can't blame Snyder for being upset with this team, particularly the defense. All this talent on defense and what is the result? Absolutely nothing! I hope Snyder does can a few of these guys---starting with Stubblefield--- never, ever, ever get anything from the 49ers!

This team will not make the playoffs unless the defense improves markedly. As it looks now they will lose to Indianapolis, Detroit, and Miami at the least. Also, the cornerbacks don't seem to be able to cover wide receivers very well. Watch out for the Eagles next Sunday.

Heck our defense could make Trent Dilfer and the Buc offense look like a 5-time consecutive Superbowl champions. I saw missed tackles, blown coverages, linebackers not filling the gaping holes made by the Bills O-line. TRADE STUBBLEFIELD I doubt if he could stop Snyder's mother

Has to be the worst defense I've seen in Redskin uniforms! If they can't figure out a way to stop the run, they might as well play for draft picks!

As a Bills fan, I thought the Redskins game plan looked familiar. Much like the Bills were doing the last few weeks, I though Washington gave up on the run too early. Early in the second half, with plenty of time to get back in the game, there was a series where they tried three straight passes - all incomplete. That was indicative of the entire afternoon - they seemed to be getting desperate too early...

so now we have 6 yrs and running with a lousy lousy defense, and no hope on the horizon anytime soon. it's hard to believe that for 19 yrs with george allen and joe gibbs we redskins fans were treated to one of the perennially top defenses in football. now just a faint memory. snyder needs to fire turner, nolan, and 3/4 of the coaching staff to start the long road back to dominance. but the problem does not end there for i noticed today that "BIG DADDY" wilkinson had no tackles, zero nada. you wonder how few tackles "LITTLE DADDY" would have had!! AND STUBBLEFIELD LOOKS LIKE HE TOOK THE MOOLA AND RAN. SIGNED, SKINS FAN FROM THE 1950'S- "remember eddie lebaron? NATIVE WASHINGTONIAN

NORV, ARE YOU EVER GOING TO LEARN HOW TO WIN AT THE "STADIUM TO BE NAMED LATER"? THIS IS HORRIBLE. WHY IS IT THAT EVERYTIME WE SEEM TO GET A LEG UP ON THE DIVISION, NOLANS DEFENSE FALLS APART? FOR CRYING OUT LOUD WE ARE BEHIND THE GIANTS. YOU WANT TO STAND BEHIND MIKE NOLAN, GOOD. THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE WORKS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER. SORRY, I HAVE TO GO AND PUKE NOW.

again, mike nolen loses the game. please get rid of mike "colon". why wont he put seven in the box. everyone and there mama's knew they where going to run. why does he blitz when the game is out of reach. i hope westbrook beats nolen like he beat davis. why are the redskins afraid of firing nolen now thing can't get any worse? lets not get to hyped up when we kill the eagles and our "D" plays great. i hope the cowboys lose and aikmen comes out of the closet. hi momma make more tortillas next week.....

this game is only yet another reason to fire the whole coaching staff. how long do we as fans have to put with this ineptitude? come on mr snyder...you said yourself a midseason coaching wasnt beyond you. so lets act on those words NOW while we are still in the hunt. norv is far from head coaching material. he's proved that every year he's been here. even he knows it. for the other coaches its just understood they dont know what they're doing either. the fans should not have to keep putting up with this garbage.

I think we played a great game today. The defense look extremely impressive. Even though we lost, I think that there is more positive than negative. I can't understand why everyone is so down on our defense. Leave the defensive cordinator alone. Being the worst defense in NFL isn't so bad. Everybody knows there is only one way to go when your at the bottom. Think positive!!!!!!

Mike Nolan has got to go, and take your overpaid defense with you. Where did we get our linebackers from? They couldn't stop the sisters of mercy if the sisters had their legs tied together. This has got to be Norv and Nolan's last year. Are you listening Danny !!!

The offence is not using Stephen Alexander. This is a bad mistake. Short passes over the midle will develope for long gains. Also the defence is not blitzing on third downs. Why? This team needs to blitz once or twice every time they are on the field. Is there not somebody on the field who could call the defensive plays? Also the offence is very predictable. When Westbrook is thrown a pass,he is most likely going to be the intended receiver on the next play, the same for Conell. I do not believe Noland is doing his job nor is Turner. Turner is not mixing the plays and not involing other players as he did in their first four games.

what the redskins need to do is hire LOLO AND ROCKY.they would blitz 9 players every play

We can win big and we can lose big. This was another disguisting loss. We made the Bills look like Bowl Bound Bruisers. The Defense stinks and not looking to get better. The Offense looks like their tring to win worst team honors from the defense. The Special Teams don't get a vote because after eight games straight they automatically win worst team of the year. WAY TO GO skins

FIRE NOLAN! CUT TURK! These two actions will at take care of two problems. Turk doesn't seem to have his mind in the game. Nolan may be a good coach but he is not maximizing the potential of the talent of his players. If you buy a Corvette for it's speed, then you can't take it to perform as weel off-road.

Same ole, same ole. Fire McDaniel first. I would say fire Nolan, but if they do, who in the world is gonna replace him??

Sherman's march through Gorgia comes to mind. Dig up old Jebb Stewart and let him run the defense. He's far less stiff then Mike Nolan, and could that man blitz the opposition. What more can I say except that what Norv dose works, as long as the other team is sub-par. I suppose next week we'll stomp the Eagles and say there's progress. The week will be complete if Dallas wins monday. A 3 way tie, OH JOY! I'm waiting for Norv to say it's like braking a mirror, and this is the last year of our bad luck. All's not lost, but it doesn't look very good at this point. GO SKINS GO SKINS GO SKINS GO SKINS GO SKINS GO SKINS

I know its just the midway point of the season and most people would have been satisfied with the team's record of 5-3 at this point if they had been asked about a prediction prior tothe start of the regular season. But the team's uneven play, and what appears to be an inability on the part of Norv Turner to get those guys fired up to enough to win against play-off caliber teams, is enough of an indication that this should be Norv's last season as head coach of the Redskins. His tenure's been long enough. I hate to say it because I like Turner, but I just think Snyder ought to bring in a whole new regime - head coach and all! Its time for a change - including some new players, which reminds me, "will someone tell these guys that tackling is still an integral part of the game"?

Never has following a winning team more frustrating. The team is now 5-3, and they feel like they could do so much more. This was, I think everyone will agree, a winable game. I think I can count on one hand the number of times the defense blitzed Flutie, in the first half in particular. Weren't we told to expect a more "aggresive" defense this year? I'm extremely tired of struggling teams getting healthy on us. Right now, Matt Turk could write a book on how to get fired in the NFL (foreword by Mike Nolan). Only he knows wether or not he broke his finger playing football or basketball. Regardless, he owes his teammates (and to a lesser degree, the fans) an apology for his dismal performance this year. Mitchell looked a little more like I expect Mitchell to look. People will question the decision to go for a 55-yarder. Those people wouldn't if the kick had been good, of course, but that's besides the point. That one play didn't dictate a loss. A missed 55-yarder didn't prevent the defense from tackling Flutie in the open field. Three other "winable" games await the team. Let's see how they respond.

I think it's painfully obvious that Washington will only go as far as their offense will take them. The defense and special teams continue to be pathetic. Can we sue them for fraud? Can anyone actually remember when either the defense or special teams actually dominated or won a game for the Redskins? The only NFL player who gets paid more to do less than Dana Stubblefield is Sean Gilbert, but even Sean managed a sack and forced fumble today. What did our thirty-six million dollar man do today? Same as he's always done since he got here, nothing. I had serious doubts about Dana's motivation ever since his first press conference after signing with Washington when he said: "I'm not a savior, I don't score touchdowns." He might as well have said, "Don't expect too much from me, but thanks for the money." Nobody expected you to score touchdowns Dana, but we're still waiting for the things that are expected from DTs, namely dominating play against the run and a few sacks. I know it's not fair to blame eveything on Dana warbucks, but to me he epitomizes a lot that's wrong in big time sports, he's an overpaid, underacheiving non-leader, who seems content. Yuk. Anyway, the next three games will be pivotal in determining whether the Redskins make the playoffs. They are all divisional games, and Washington must win them all. Then, later wins against Arizona and San Francisco would put Washington at 10-6 for the season. An early exit from the post season? Probably (since Washington's 10 wins would be against weaker teams.) But if by some miracle Dana and the defense come around they might advance deep into the playoffs because there just aren't many dominate teams.

The Redskins have the most deceiving record of all the NFL teams. They have beaten teams with losing records and lost to teams with winning records. If I had to make a prediction to which team that has a winning record right now that has the least chance of making playoffs, it would be the Redskins. I have lost faith in the defense and special teams. You need both to succeeed. The skins have 4 more teams right now they have to play with winning records. Including the fact they beat the rest of the teams that are lousy on their schedule...they will lose to the winning 4 and come out with a 9-7 record...and put the fate of their playoff hopes in another teams hands again. Do I see another 7-1 team biting the dust forming in the mist?

Fire Norv please. He fail to get his team prepared.... even in the weeks the skins win. Norv believe in big play offense of greater than 10 yards per play. Living for the big play has never won a superbowl. Denver lerned there lesson regarding ground games and "Ball Control". And they finally won a superbowl. A good example of Norv Turner's inability to coach was last week. The probility of Chicago making an onside kick was high, and Norv failed to place his ball handlers up front in the 10yard zone. We he finally did this, the Redskins were able to cover the on-sides kick. FIRE Norv... he is not qualified.
