Coach Marty Schottenheimer
Q: What were your general thoughts about the game?
A: Well, it took us a while to get it sorted out, but we managed to pull it together. And I thought it was a real tribute to our football team to come in to this place against a good football team, fall down 10-0 and turn around and battle our way back and find a way to get a victory. ... And I think probably as much as anything, the big stop we had after the Saints' interception where we challenged, and it was overturned and it was ruled incomplete, and subsequently they had to kick the field goal. ... I don’t think it got us started in the right direction, but it certainly got us stopped in the direction we were going.
Q: How did you feel the secondary played?
A: Well, I think what we did is that we went in with the idea that we were going to take and match our strengths against their strengths, which we felt was our coverage people against their wide receivers. I told those guys today, and I told them yesterday, you’ve got the hat tonight. You’ve got to wear the hat and get the job done. And I think they stepped up and did a very find job in that regard.
Q: Were you pleased with the play of the offensive line?
A: We ended up with Matt Campbell in there, starting in place of Ben Coleman. Ben has been troubled by a knee injury. I thought we did a good job. We’ve got good runners. You give them just one little crease, and they have the ability to run in there with it. I was pleased with our short-yardage and goal-line work. We still got stymied a few times in the red zone. We made some progress.
Champ Bailey
Q: How did you feel when you trailed 10-0?
A: I felt good about it. We came out flat, but we picked it up. We never hold our heads down. We’ve been 0-5, and we came back and won five in a row. That says enough about this team.
Q: Can you talk about the turnovers?
A: They definitely impact any game. You get four turnovers, whatever we got, that can definitely impact things. We got it turned around. We got a pick in the red zone. That really helped.
Darrell Green
Q: Were turnovers the difference in winning this game?
A: Yeah, turnovers, I don’t know what the ratio was. But when you’re winning the plus-minus on the plus side, normally you’re going to win the game.
Q: Can you talk about the play where you deflected the ball to Dan Wilkinson?
A: I actually was blitzing on that play. The big guys opened it up for me, and I was able to go in there and give [Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks] some pressure. And Big Daddy of all people caught the ball.
