The Giants got a 57-yard run from tailback Tiki Barber on the first play from scrimmage that set up Jay Feely's 39-yard field goal. New York added a 50-yard field goal from Feely with 17 seconds to play for a 6-0 lead. The Redskins did not threaten in the first quarter, and the farthest they got on any of their three possessions was their 38-yard line.
The Giants took a 13-0 lead after running back Brandon Jacobs scored on a three-yard run with 12:31 to play. Jacobs had been stopped for a two-yard loss one play earlier. The key play of the drive was a 59-yard run by Barber. New York increased its margin to 16-0 with a 33-yard field goal from Feely and pushed it to 19-0 with a 39-yard field goal with two seconds to play.
The Giants all but ended the game with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to tight end Jeremy Shockey for a 26-0 lead early in the quarter. The Redskins fell flat on their next three possessions, and the Giants added a 44-yard field goal from Feely for a 29-0 advantage. On their next possession, the Giants got a four-yard touchdown run from Barber to make it 36-0.
Patrick Ramsey played all of the fourth quarter in mop-up duty after Mark Brunell had been ineffective. The former starter completed his first pass of the quarter for 24 yards to wide receiver Taylor Jacobs to move the Redskins to the Giants 9-yard line. But the offense stalled when Ramsey threw incomplete on a pass intended for tight end Robert Royal on fourth down and goal.
