UEFA Cup Pena Scores Twice as Porto Beat Wisla

OPORTO, Portugal, Nov 9 – Brazilian striker Jesus Pena scored in each half to send Porto through to the third round of the UEFA Cup with a 3-0 win over Poland's Wisla Krakow on Thursday.

Porto came out attacking, in contrast to their defensive play in their goalless first leg.

Pena scored his first after four minutes following a perfect cross from Serbian teammate Ljubinko Drulovic.

The Portuguese side then eased the pace but still had several chances and only excellent saves by Krakow goalkeeper Artur Sarnat kept the scoreline unchanged at the break.

Steady pressure paid off in the second half, with Russian midfielder Dmitri Alenichev finding Pena with a 61st minute corner and the Brazilian tucking a glancing header inside the right post.

Pena almost completed his hat-trick shortly after when he had an almost clear run at goal and Krakow's Kazimierz Moskal failed to match his pace, but the Porto player hit the ball wide.

The visitors came close to a consolation goal during one of their counter-attacks when Marcin Baszczynski shot from outside the penalty area and beat defender Jose Esquerdinha but hit the right post.

An unmarked Alenichev seized his chance in injury time when he connected with a pass from Deco inside the penalty area and gave Sarnat no chance.
