UEFA Cup Max Double Helps TSV 1860 Move On

MUNICH, Nov 7 – Martin Max scored twice on Tuesday to help TSV 1860 Munich to a 3-1 win over Swedish champions Halmstad and a place in the third round of the UEFA Cup.

They won 5-4 on aggregate.

Max, the Bundesliga's top scorer last season, put TSV 1860 ahead from close range after six minutes.

Halmstad equalised when Robert Andersson took advantage of a blunder by goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch in the 25th minute. But TSV 1860 were back in front just before the break courtesy of a headed goal by Australian Paul Agostino from a Harald Cerny cross.

Max, yet to score a league goal this season, sealed victory with a header six minutes from time.
