UEFA Cup Hertha Advance After Draw at Wronki

Rueters
Tuesday, November 7, 2000; 2:12 PM

WRONKI, Poland, Nov 7 – Hertha Berlin played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Poland's Amica Wronki to qualify 4-2 on aggregate from their second-round UEFA Cup clash on Tuesday.

Amica's midfielder Grzegorz Krol opened the scoring in the 54th minute after outpacing Hertha's defence from a long through pass by Mariusz Kukielka. The goal put pressure on Hertha, who would have been knocked out if Amica had been able to force a 2-0 win.

But Hertha responded nine minutes later with Sixten Veit flipping the ball in with the outside of his foot from 10 metres.
