ZURICH, Oct 26 – A superb solo goal by Dutch international midfielder Paul Bosvelt sealed a 2-1 win for Feyenoord against Basle in a UEFA Cup second round first leg match on Thursday.

Bosvelt, who also set up the visitors' first goal, went round two defenders before chipping the Basle goalkeeper for the winner six minutes from time at the Grasshoppers' ground in Zurich.

He had earlier provided a deft pass from the edge of the box to split the Basle defence in the 60th minute and set up Ivory Coast striker Bonaventure Kalou, who buried a powerful shot in the bottom left corner to open the scoring.

Basle, who had started strongly but missed a string of first half chances, equalised two minutes later through Cameroon striker Jean-Michel Tchouga.
